Question about Sony SCREW +PS 2X5 (BLK) (762825310)

The color on my sony model #KP-51WS510 stopped working

I unplugged the tv from the satellite and dvd boxes to move the tv. Plugged everything in again and now the color doesn't work. The picture is ok just black and white. When I plug the stuff into other holes in the back the color turns all blue and the picture is messed up.

Sony kp-51ws510 Rear Projection HDTV - Picture quality is fine, just doesn't have any red's in the picture. What shoud i look into?

Make sure the cable box or DVD/Blu Ray player is hooked up properly. Sometimes one of the component cables can become loose and lose the reds.

The red tube could be shot also. My old projection tv had the green go out. Believe it or not the whole thing can be replaced, but to replace a CRT on an older model can cost a lot.

KP-51WS510

You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors.

Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Color issues

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections at the convergence ICs to defective ICs. Can you solder? If so, let me know and I'll provide additional instructions.
