The tv needs ot be readjusted, have you taken it to a service center? Either that or one of the sustain boards has failed, does the screen look sorta washed out and top edges are rough?

Model DP42848. It is solarized but the menu looks good from what I can tell. Sound is fine and the TV works fine otherwise. What's wrong?

talk with a tv technician as there is a way of removing the static covering of a tv screen that may be your problem
IT can be cause by cleaning the screen with the wrong type of cloth which produces static electricity and affects the screen performance

Picture looks like pastels

You left out much info to help troubleshoot (like make and model) So i'll just guess....If its a plasma tv then z-sus and y-sus boards should be replaced. Odd If its a LCD tv but suspect mainboard

Green solarization effect in picture - Sharp LCD TV

I have had the same problem this week on my Sharp 32" LCD TV. I'm told that it is a 'contact' problem that Sharp are aware of. A screw has been modified to correct this. My TV was repaired on-site & took about 15 minutes to replace the faulty part. I have an extended warrenty (thankfully) so can't give you a price for the repair - sorry. Best of luck

The lower half of the tv goes black/also pastel colors

yes humidity has been known to make the panel seperate. I live in south tx and work for sony, alot of panels that show that prob is usually the panel seperating. wouldnt recomend to fix to costly around 85% the cost of when you bought it.

Try 2 different signal sources, such as cable and DVD or Dish and DVD or Cable and vcr. If the same problem exists on both sources then the TV needs a circuit board.
I would like a discription of "posterized" to help you more.
