Question about Kenmore 659 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Kenmore 80 series gas dryer will not heat.

The ignitor has been replaced and is good. I understand that there is a sensor on the exhaust vent that may be the problem? There seem to be a number of sensors in the back...How do you test or is there a more likely one to be bad?

If the ignitor is coming on the problem is most likely a coil. There are three on the valve a booster coil a holding coil and the main coil. Remove the coils and take to a reputable appliance person to check.

Kenmore Dryer 110.62832101 tumbles, but does not heat. Just replaced the belt last week, fine.

check for a lint build up in the exhaust vent tubing first of all
If clear check the spark ignitor and the moister sensor in that order

Tumbler turns, but no heat. gas line is open and looks good... what might be the problem?

Upon starting the dryer you should hear the clicking noise of the spark ignitor. If heard that is fine. Next remove all exhaust vent tubing and clean out thoroughly. The moister sensor detects any lint build up and will put the heat burner into a check mode untill the lint build up is removed. It was designed to prevent fires to start. If cleaned and still does not produce any heat replace that moister sensor

Dryer seems to take longer to dry things.

Remove the exhaust vents tubing and clean out thoroughly good. Any lint build up will make the moister sensor to keep the heat in check. If cleaned and still does not heat very well replace that sensor. If no heat is present replace the spark ignitor instead

Check for a blockage in the exhaust vent tubing. A moister sensor detects lint build up and prevents the burner to work
If clear and still no heat check the spark ignitor to click once you turn on the unit. If it does click the ignitor is good. Still not heat? Then the moister sensor is at fault

The dryer is not getting hot

check the exhaust vents thoroughly. If full of lint the moister sensor will keep the burner off at all times you use this dryer. If the vents are clean and it still will not heat replace the moister sensor and replace the spark ignitor at the same time

I have a large capacity Kenmore dryer that is not heating up what should I look for model #75201

A clogged exhaust vent tubing will collect lint causing the moister sensor to shut down the heat. Inspect & clean and it will operate again. If not the sensor is bad or the spark ignitor is at fault. The spark ignitor makes a clicking sound upon starting the dryer up within 20 seconds

Isn't heating up. takes forever to dry,

Disconnect the complete exhaust vent tubing and clean it out thorourghly. Then it will dry. There is a moister sensor in your dryer and when the lint builds up inside the vent tubing the sensor shuts off the burner to prevent fires from starting

Gas dryer 4 yrs young and won't heat. Drum turns.

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.
