Question about Canon NP 6050 Copier

NP6050 false paper jam at doc feeder

Our Canon NP6050 says to remove paper jam when trying to use the document feeder. There is no paper jam, and it makes copies fine from the glass. After trying a few times it says E401 and says to re-start the machine. Any Ideas?

    Thought I would elaborate. I put a piece of paper in the top. Press start. Then the feeder arm arrow that is in green starts to blink with a LCD indicator that there is a Jam. No Jams anywhere. I've tried to clean the sensors but I am not sure where the Jam sensor is for this particular problem.

    I saw what you posted on the other complaint. I removed the back cover and where the sensor is that resets the ADF when the lid is raised, I unplugged that and plugged it back in. Could the sensor be bad? The LCD continued to say to lift the cover. Is there a way to jumper the connector. It has three purple wires. If I can jumper it, then mayb the lever switch is bad. Which wires to i need to connect? Thought i would use a little piece of wire to close the circuit

    Thank you for your response. The black arms do not move and the tray does not drop. Then I get blinking green light in the opaque window. I took it apart and examined the two black arm and the drive mechanism that attaches to the little motor. It is intact and not broken. I also unplugged the cables and plugged them back in. When I put a sheet of paper to be copied in, a green arrow appears. Then when I hit copy, the green arrow blinks and indicates a Jam. The black arms do not move.

When you put documents in the feeder and you push start do you see 2 black arms swing out to count the number of orignals? If yes, dose the doc tray begin to go down and then jams? If yes, you can try something.... OK, turn the copier off and move the 2 paper guides of the doc tray toward the middle. You need a #2 philip's head screw driver. Remove the 2 silver screws that will be sunk in a bit on the top of the doc tray. Once you remove the screws, remove the top part of the doc tray and you will have one connector toward the front. Unplug it and replug it back in and see if that works, if so return the 2 screws and you should be OK.

To "Settings/Registration Table"

You can specify the method for restarting scanning of documents when a paper jam occurs in the feeder.

For information on the optional products required to use this function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."


  1. Press b_in_add.gif(Settings/Registration) ? [Function Settings] ? [Common] ? [Scan Settings] ? [Feeder Jam Recovery Method].

  1. Select [From 1st Page] or [From Stopped Original] ? press [OK].

Details of each item are shown below.
[From 1st Page]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the first page of the document. [From Stopped Original]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the page of the document scanning was interrupted.

Cannot clear error message "Document


Hi nigel_lester,

This error message "Document in ADF" that you are getting means that you need to remove foreign object from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). Kindly follow the procedure below in clearing document jams:

Document jams in the ADF (Document Tray)

1. First, press Stop/Reset.
2. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any documents other than the jammed page from the ADF. 3. Then, open the Feeder Cover.
4. From under the roller to the Feeder Cover side, remove the jammed page.
5. If a document is not jammed, check the document feed area if there's foreign material. If there's any, carefully remove it.
6. Close the Feeder Cover.

NOTE:
  • If documents remain in the ADF after pressing during scanning, [Document in ADF] will appear on the LCD. Press so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.
  • When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

Document jams in the ADF (inner side)

1. Press Stop/Reset.
2. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any documents other than the jammed page from the ADF, then open the Feeder Cover.
3. Raise the paper release lever (A) then remove the jammed page from under the roller to the Feeder Cover side.
4. Open the Document Cover and pull out the document from the inner side.
5. Close the Document Cover.
6. Close the Feeder Cover.

Note: When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

pull out the paper false fully and off and on the printer again, this time remove all the papers with just one left for the printer to reload.

Paper jam in the automatic document feeder


I have a Laser Jet 3050..when I try to load a oaoer to copy or fax, paper does not move...just gears moving but paper is not being pick up...any solutions?

Does the adf show a paper jam? If so remove it or look for some thing blocking the paper path and remove it. Also try to turn off the copier and disreconnect the doc feeder and turn it back on and see what happens.
