Question about Gateway M305CRV Notebook

1 Answer

Gateway 305crv won't power on and was fine 5 minutes ago

I was adding software and downloading a few things. I packed it up and hard powered it off and brought it over to a friends house. When I got here i plugged it in and tried to power it up and it would not power up at all. I see the light in the front showing it has life but it won't turn on. i didn't drop it or abuse it in anyway. i was about to send it to my bf in the military so he'd have more stuff to do in his off time. Now i do not know what i am going to do to fix this issue. It has a new battery and new power inverter for the screen.. i did pull it apart but everything looks like it is in place.. any suggestions to how i can test it or get it back up?

Ok there area few things you can try to get to the bottom of this, firstly remove the battery and try it on AC power only, check that the memory is free of dust and is seated properly
post back with the results please

Ok sounds serious, remove the battery and AC power and leave it off for a while, then try AC power only again, if you still get no joy you can back up the hard drive by connecting it up to another computer as a slave device

    kind regards

it could be anything from faulty memory to blown processor or motherboard. sometimes disconnecting all the power removing the ram, hard drive and cd drive and leaving it off for a couple of hours can do it, while is off and the memory is removed press the on/off button a few times, this might reset the bios which also could be corrupt

    kind regards

it was stuck on power saving mode, if you go to the control panel and then power options you can dissable the computer from going to sleep.
I am a PC technician and have come accross this problem many times before, its just knowing how to deal with it and is mostly associated with Vista, remember to relay this information to your bf, as this may occur again and he'll know what to do
I think that deserves a Fixya! rating don't you?

    KInd regards

If there is noise "beep" then it has RAM issue/RAM port. If is not noising then it has motherboard issue. I guess you need to take it to the technician and ask him to fix or replace it.

My car won't start in the cold weather. I don not have Power Locks or Power Windows. What is the Problem?

That sounds like a battery issue. Batteries have whats called CCA (cold cranking amps) it is the main thing to pay attention to. This is a measure of how much current the battery can provide at 0 deg F. Batteries work better when they are warm, so the colder it gets, the less current it can provide.

Starting an engine requires a lot of current, over a very short time. Meanwhile, cold engines are harder to start, requiring more power to get them going. So look at your battery and its CCA and since u said u bought the car a few years ago. You probably didnt replace the battery yet have u? Batteries usually have a life of 4-6 yrs only. Hope this helped

Gateway M 6843 won't turn on

You may have already done this, but remember many laptops require that you remove the battery for about 30 sec. as
well as disconnect the AC power to reset them.
Always try this when everything appears completely dead.

Hello
Check out these with your Motorola converter

[1] Verify that the AC power cord is connected to the DCT*
and an AC outlet.

[2] If the DCT* is connected to a switched outlet on another
unit, verify that that unit is powered on.

[3] Press the POWER button on the DCT* front panel instead

of the remote control. The batteries in the remote control
may be depleted

[4] The DCT* may have received a software update and

may not power on while the new software is being
installed. Try again in a few minutes.
OK.

Gateway cordless mouse intermittent connection model MR-0610T ,,, came as a set with keyboard. keyboard connects fine, no problems, but mouse has to continually be reset after a few commands/minutes.

I was having the same problem then I ran across something on the Gateway sight saying to hold the connect button on the transmitter for 5 seconds, then the connect button on the mouse for 5 seconds. I just did this about 5 minutes ago but it seems to have fixed the problem.
