the 6 beeps are long and evenly spaced. There is a definite pause when the 6 beeps have sounded. after this pause, the 6 beeps return.

I have the same issue. The system had 2gb of ram installed. (4 X 512MB DIMM's)

I loaded 8GB into the slots, (4 X 2GB) and got the error described above. The RAM is brand new from Kingston. I tried replacing the new ram with the original ram but this did not resolve the issue.

The system is running a 64-bit O/S so the amount of RAM isn't an issue.

During my troubleshooting I tried just using one stick of the original ram and moving it from slot to slot. (Wash, rinse, Repeat 4 times) No go.

    any ideas?

6 long beeps indicates that there is a problem with the memory, take them out, clean the contacts and the DIMM slots and reseat them.
Hopefully this will resolve the problem, if not new memory may be required
kind regards

This is WRONG - 6 blinks indicates graphics card problem (memory errors are 5 blinks)

Hard disk want recover on playstation 3 when I click the x button to restore the hard disk it keep going back to the recovery screen

alright here is the only way to fix it (by the way you will lose all data on the system)
step 1: make sure the ps3 is off (solid red light)
step 2: hold the power button through a series of beeps, do not take you finger off the power button when the light is green, wait for the light to turn bak to red, then take your finger off
step 3: hold down the power button again through a series of beeps until you hear a quick double beep then remove you finger
step 4: plug the charging cable into the controller and the ps3 system and push the ps button just as the message tells you to
step 5: choose option 5
step 6: if this does not resolve your issue it is then a problem with hardware and you will need to call sony

A computer with a D101GGC motherboard does not start. There is no beep or monitor singal. The fan is okay. As soon as the power is connected to the computer, the red drive access light comes on, but not...

its a common problem with intel D101GGC motherboard, just open the case and unplug the dvd power cable and data cable, then turn on the PC it will work fine.

PS3 startup fails

try removing the hard drive then booting it up then putting it back in and booting up again.

then try holding the power button while the ps3 is in standby (red light) till it beeps,... then beeps again,...then turns red again,....then let go and hold the power button again real fast you should hear beep....then a double beep beep. let go of button and you should see recovery console. choose rebuild file system. it will reboot and go through the rebuild steps. then if it still doesnt work go through the steps of recovery consol again and choose rebuild database.

Carried out an update, but now stuck in loop

Procedure for Entering Safe mode when PS3 is caught in update loop:

When you first turn on the PS3, it will not allow you to go into Safe mode. You must prepare it for this.

link for flash drive prep:
http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/SystemUpdates/PS3/pc_update.html#update_PC

(This will not work for the drive that currently is caught in the update loop. You must take the hard drive out of the PS3 and temporarily replace it with another 2.5” SATA drive. Note: temp drive may need to be initialized… Connect drive to pc, right click on My Computer and select Manage… Then select disk Management… you will then be presented with a dialogue box that will assist in initializing the disk.. However, only initialize it… Do Not Format it!(waste of time) Once the disk is initialized disconnect it from external enclosure or shut down computer and remove disk)

From the top:

1.) Plug in PS3 and flip switch in back of PS3 to on. Red LED in front of PS3 should light up. Also, plug in Controller at this point.
2.) Hold finger to I/O button on front of PS3 – Green LED lights up
a. You will hear one beep, then another single beep, then a final beep and the PS3 will power off again and Red LED will be on
3.) Hold finger to I/O button on front of PS3 – Green LED lights up
a. You will hear one beep, then another single beep, then two beeps
4.) As soon as you hear the two beeps, hold PS button on Controller
a. You will then be presented with an options screen
i. Restart System -- leads back to update loop
ii. Restore Default Settings --
iii. Restore File System -- leads back to update loop (8002F14E)
iv. Rebuild Database --
v. Restore PS3 System --
vi. System Update -- will cause error
5.) You will then remove the temporary SATA drive from the PS3 and replace it with the hard drive that is caught in the update loo
6.) I am currently stuck attempting to Restore Default Settings and Im sure it will end in error, but i have to try all possible solutions.

Ps3 says cannot start the correct hard disk was not found

try safemode
hold down the power button while the console is in standby. the light will go from red to green.it will beep once flash green beep again, and then beep a third time. after the third beep the light will turn red.

once the light is red, take your finger off the power button and place it back on the power button. the light will go from red to green, beep once flash and then beep twice quickly. after it does the double beep, take your finge roff. the light will stay green and you'll get a screen asking you to connect the controller.

after connecting the controller, try option 3, or whichever option is restore filing system. this can possibly correct media loading and will 95% of the time fix the console when it freezes before loading up your icons(the xmb)

Blinking red light

General hardware failure. Usually the red light means either bad power supply or bad hard drive.

You can start by pulling the hard drive out and then power on the system.

More than likely it's a power supply / motherboard issue, in which case you'll have to contact Sony for repair.

You can reach them @ 1-800-345-SONY

Without knowing what yo have for a BIOS, it is difficult to diagnose. The below link is a list of beep error codes for different BIOS types. Check your BIOS to see if it is one on the list and see what it means:
