Alpine CDM-7857 Distant-local switching

I pick up a station at every available FM frequency. Is there a way to switch from distant to local reception?

Yep, you'll see a Play/Pause button. Just press that until it says DX Seek (or Seek if you want to skip over stations that are slightly farther away). Then press your tune buttons! If it still doesn't work while in DX or DX Seek mode, then hold the tune button for a second. It'll beep and start scanning to the next one!

When changing radio channels the dx mode appears instead of lo (local) cant get a signal

dx is short for distant. this just makes the tuner more sensitive and should pick up more stations. if it is not picking up stations in dx mode, you either have a bad antenna or a bad tuner.

I purchased a used Suburban in which the previous owner installed an Alpine CDM-7857 receiver. Although I do not have the Alpine owner's manual I figured out most the receiver's operations except how to...

According to the manual follow these steps

While the clock is displayed, hold down the clock button for 3 seconds.
Time indicator will blink.
Press the ct button to set the seconds.
Press the H button for the hour.
and M for minutes.

Time indication will stop blinking 5 seconds after the ajustment.
Then the time will automatically be set.

Just in case I will include the link to the manual for other operations.....

Want to know if I can use the line-level inputs from the CD Chgr

Your alpine unit is the old "M-BUS" the other adapter you are talking about is an "AI-BUS" adapter. (Hence the model numbers beginning with CD"M" or CD"A" ...)

Look for an Alpine M-Bus to RCA Input adapter.

heres one on eay for less than 10.00 including shipping.

Amp turns off when switch from radio to cd function

That because you connected the wrong remote wire to the amps. The BLUE (only) wire is for the pwr anntena, that is the one is connected to your amps right now.
You just need to switch the blue wires, you have to connet the blue w/white strip to the amps.
