Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Garage door opener will only accept one remote.

I have 4 different remotes but it will only accept one of them, doesn't matter which one. It will only accept the first one and no more.

Clear the memory by pressing the learn button for about 10 sec. The led light will go out when it is cleared. Reprogram all remotes. The opener will only accept so many remotes and every time you program a remote it takes up a slot. The memory is full and knocking off the oldest remote.

I purchase a new garage door opener and my old remotes wont work with it I have 4 old remotes

If it came with its own remote (probably), then you'll have to use the new remote with it - they're all keyed to individual garage door openers, as it should be; otherwise, anyone could use any old remote to open your garage door.

The overhead garage door remote will not open the garage door what do i do

Make sure that the battery in the remote is good. If it has gone bad, often the door opener has to be reprogrammed to accept the signal of the remote. Use your manual to get the directions for this procedure.

And if the latter does not do it, either the remote unit is bogus or the receiver circuits on your opener are not working.

It could be the garage door motor that is acting up. Try closing it with the button in the garage. If that's not the case, you may need a different garage door opener.

Chamberlain Whisper Quiet garage remote won't work

There isn't a trick but you must make sure you got the right remotes for your opener. The receiver which is part of the logic board can quit working and it sounds like this may be the case in your situation.

Can not program both keypad & remote to operate at the same time

One of your units has reverted from "rolling code" to "billion code" and as you have found they will each work but will not work with each other. The problem is finding out which unit reverted. The most common one is the hand remote but that could be wrong.

My sears garage door opener wont open or close the door

If you can get access to the back of your motor assembly on the ceiling and look where the wires are connected there should be a slide button that will have a list that will have you set the main unit to a position that will allow you to accept new remotes or reprogram for lost signal to existing remote. If all else fails there should be a phone number you can call listed on the unit and they can walk you through.

Programing garage door opener remote

ok crystal, calm down this is an easy one! first locate the smart button on your openers , next you will press and hold down the smart button until you see an indicator light above it shut off, while your holding that button the light will be solid ,Now your ready to program your remotes ,first programm one side by taking each of your four remotes and pressing the smart button on machine then pressing the button on the remote you want to program,by doing that you will notice the lightbulbs on your machine shut off and go back on , This is an indicator that your machine has accepted the code , now do it with the other three remotes , after you,ve programmed all four ,go over to the other machine and repeat the process but this time you have to choose another button on your remotes since you,ve programmed all four remotes to the same button on each remote ,just choose the bottom button on your remotes this time to keep them seperated , hope this helps you and it is as easy as 1-2-3 your owners manual will describe exactly the same ,i know because i,ve installed over 27,000 machines working as an installer for sears, please leave a nice feedback rating if i was able to help you, good luck,Sincerely Glenn Mayer
