Can you get any other codes in the window or is this the only one that keeps showing up? You may need to put a new needle and bobbin in as they may have been damaged even slightly when things got tangled. Kate
Check for burrs or scratches on hook. You can smooth with emery cloth. And put one drop of oil on the oscillating hook.I would insert new needle too and make sure foot up when rethreading so thread locates smoothly into the tension discs. I could feel your frustration and hope this helps.
I hate to tell you but there is no felt or fuzzy area, what you are seeing is lint and thread under the throat plate. Take out the screws and clean out that area, you will be surprised how much is there and how much better your machine will work. You may have cleaned the hook and shuttle area but not underneath. Also, oil your machine as per your manual.
unplug the machine first
unscrew the needle clamp holder screw enough to get the needle out
you might have to use some wire pliers, you may have to break the needle to get it out, please be carefull
then put a new needle in
clean under needle plate where feed dogs are for lint
clean in bobbin area for fragments of the needle & for lint & loose threads
