prior to the recovery... have someone pull your hard drive and recover the "precious" files & pics on the drive... It's expensive at Best Buy... so watch out!!!
System recovery shouldn't have you loose all files.. if a recovery point is there... the trick is to only recover to the most recent point that you can. When Windows updates the software to Service Pack X for example, a recovery point would have been created automatically
XP - Simply on a blank part of the screen right click mouse and select properties, you should be in display properties, selections are there and you should get hte picture(s) you want
