Question about Patton PUH680-U Utility Heater

New thermostat needed for Patton PUH680-U electric utility heater

I have an old TITAN electric heater, dating back to the 1980's. It has a durable all-metal case (Titan Sales Corp, Sedalia, Missouri, Model 17608, 1300-1500 Watts) and appears to be a very similar early precursor to the Patton PUH680-U. All of the heater is still working perfectly, except for the old thermostat, which has old contacts that get welded together and stick from all the "on-off" arcing during normal operation. The old thermostat appears to be replaceable with a more modern version from the Patton PUH680-U, but I haven't been able to find a source, price, etc for this replacement. Using your in-house search engine gave unsatisfactory results. Can you help?

I do not know if this heater is on any product recall but we have used patton heaters for years and pretty much have had good luck with them. However there is a fire hazard present if you set or store combustibles to close to the front.Tip over switches don't always work and I would never recommend using a heater of this type in a unsupervised area.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you and happy holidays.

Must be an older model heater. All the recent ones have a 3 prong plug. Especially, since the recall a couple of years ago on the PUH680-U Heater.

Need manual for this heater

Google the heater in different ways ( model #, wattage, metal or plastic casing, grounded ( 3 prongs) or not grounded ( 2 pins and I doubt it to be like that since electrical heaters are high wattage) and choose images and hopefully you'll find the model number that way. If not, take it to a guy who works on home heating installations, he may be your highest bidder to a better answer.

Repairing rival titan space heater

Albert, I have serious doubts that you'll find a suitable switch for your needs on this type of a unit. They just aren't available, unless you can walk into a hardware store and know just what you want. Otherwise, these things are made in China for the most part, and when they ship them over here, they don't ship replacement parts for them...

The temp rocker switch on my Rival Titan heater has burned out. Can you recommend a replacement? Does not have to be rocker type.

Any electrical supply store can provide a suitable replacement, the amps the switch carries is on the switch body in most cases.

I have a Bryant Model 342A Size 60 Unit Heater (Natural Gas) that I bought in the 1980's. It still works good. Would yo be able to tell me what it is worth if sold to someone else?

60,000 btu? not much. Depends on the use. Need to check the heat exchanger for thin metal or holes, if so it is worth junk dollars only.
If looks ok new unit runs about 400.00 and up. $50.00 would be ok for almost 30 year old heater.

Where can I get parts and/or service for my electric fireplace. The ''flame'' does not work. The lights work and the heat works but the ''flame'' does not flicker I live in central Missouri

I think you'll have to replace the entire insert.

I found some at the url below

I have not purchased from them before, but it seems like they have a very good selection.

My dimplex night storage heater has stopped working.

...not too sure of your model but all dimplex heaters to my knowledge have an 'overload' cut out built into the system. Ours is more up to date but still goes now and then, problem is you have to get into the electrics and click the reset button, normally near or on the thermostat it's self, could be a small white plastic button, or a piece metal sticking up that needs pressing down to reset...but please before attempting make sure that you TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC / REMOVE THE FUSE/ WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO CUT ANY CHANCE OF AN ELECTRIC SHOCK!!!...because I can and will get you if it can ;-)... if your not a competent electrician please get hold of one !... good luck.

Vulcan oil heater

Regarding the wiring on my ancient Vulcan oil heater...I have only just received a wiring diagram (dated January 1969), which I am just about to get stuck in to. I hope that I can follow it (the drawing looks like the last copy of something that's been copied 1,000 times before on one of those old Roneo, wet ink, wind-it-by-hand copiers). The drawing came from a Vulcan agent on the very far side of Adelaide. Here's hoping. Ooroo, John. .
