Question about HP Computers & Internet

When opening my HP Pavilion dv6338se notebook, the screen occasionally won't light until I wiggle the lid. This is not a power jack problem but a screen hinge problem. Please advise.

Video Failure
The first thing to check in cases of complete video failure is the power status, as detailed above. If you can always hear your laptop fan when you turn on the laptop and now you can't it's not a video failure, it's a power or mainboard failure. The next troubleshooting step is to connect an external monitor with a standard VGA connector, whether a CRT or an LCD. If your notebook won't light up the external monitor, it's extremely likely that either the motherboard or the internal video adapter (if it's not part of the mainboard) has failed. If the video adapter is a discrete component and you can find a replacement for under $100, it might be worth gambling on replacing, but it's almost never cost effective to replace a mainboard. There is a small chance that the internal connection to the external video port has coincidentally failed with the laptop's own video subsystem, but it's not all that likely.

Hi,
The cables between the LCD and the Motherboard are most likley loose or then there is a problem with the backlight, do you have picture but just no backlight? if you have the screen under a light when the backlight is off do you have picture? if you do then the problem is in the backlight, or its connectors.

Press the power button momentarily. If that doesn't work press and hold the power button until it switches of. On rebooting turn sleep mode off.

Hp pavilion dv6 2117ax will not power up

Since you already got a new charger, then the problem could be the power jack of the laptop and/or the connections inside the laptop.

Try to plug the power adapter slowly and try to wiggle it. It you feel that the power jack is wiggling, then the problem is a loose power jack that is why it won't charge. And you need to have a tech tighten that up for you.

HP Pavilion dv6-7010us won't boot up

Hello. The most common reasons for this issue are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem. The

power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.Hope this helps.

Dv6700z power issues.

The power jack on the side of the notebook is either damaged & need to be replaced, or it just needs to be re-soldered to the laptops mainboard.
In either case, the laptop needs to be disassembeled & the jack either re-soldered or replaced.

Black screen

If the screen is breaking up into multiple screens, the video resolution isn't set correctly. Change the video properties back to the native resolution.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen. Click on Properties at the bottom. Now click on the Settings tab.
The Screen Resolution slider should be all the way to the right, close to -> More.
The Colors should be set to the highest setting.

When you close the lid, you may have your laptop set to Sleep Mode, check that. You may also have your screen saver set to Blank, and no screen saver has been chosen.

(1.Screen Saver: Right-click on empty area of desktop>Properties>Screen Saver.

2.Sleep Mode: Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Power Options>Power Buttons>When I press the sleep button on my computer>Then choose what you want it to do)

If none of this helps, I suggest you have a problem that HP needs to repair. Since you bought this dv9700t last July, would I be correct in assuming it's still under warranty?
