Question about AOC A17W221 17 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

No sound on channel 4.1, but on all other channels

I recently bought an AOC 22" LCD HDTV which works fine except for one little problem. I cannot get the sound to work on channel 4.1 which is CBS. When we select info on the remote, it brings up a box with 3 lines. On the right end of the center line, it says scrambled. How can we fix this problem?

I am getting the signal from an antenna in the attic. After I scanned the channels channel 4-1 did not come on. I went to show/hide channels and I got the picture, but no sound. Channel 4 analog did work. I called AOC and they told me the signal was too weak and the tuner was not guaranteed to get all channels. If this is true and there is no way to adjust the TV so 4-1 works will a signal amplifier at the antenna work. fthe is the 2nd AOC L22W898 TV. I returned the first one with the same problem. However if you know of a way to fix it with an adjustment I will be very happy. I have the DISH network but I have the bedroom tv on the antenna because we watch the news and the Letterman show on local stations.

You have got it all wrong. The tv Is an AOC 22" L22W898, not a 17" tv. There is nothing wrong with my Dish network. the problem is with the tv connected to the antenna in the attic as I clearly stated. You must be in India or some country where you have trouble understanding english. Either give me some advice that deals with the information I gave you ot tell me you can't help me.

There is 5.1 and 7.1 no 4.1, the 5.1 is front center, front right, and front left, then rear left and rear right, the .1 is the sub-woofer, thus we have 3 front 2 rear and 1 sub-woofer, the 7.1 has a left and right center channel 7 speakers and and 1 or sometimes 2 sub woofers.if cbs isn't working it is not an audio problem, more likely an antenna or cable problem, some local channels are a pain in the **** to pull in with a standard antenna. Scrambled is the video, it may be encrypted if you are using an FTA box to pull in dish or a cable box that is not mpeg 4 compliant, I can help you more if you need it but first I need to know what you are trying to watch and what type of equipment, as this stuff is pretty standardized, but I need to know what you are trying to watch and with which equipment.

If the technicians answer was that he didn't know how to fix it, I would tell them to remove it, I had the same thing happen with dish about six months ago, and they rewired the entire house. Then Comcast also who I use for my modem , did the same, thing . If you let them get away with it they will. Obviouslly you need a better connection than you are getting, check with neighboors next door and see if they are experiencing the same problem, this kind of stuff is why you pay them every month. You need a supervisor to generate a work order and get a tech out to your home, there is really not much we would be able to do, being that you already are aware of the problem, and you shouldn't need a signal amp if you are paying good money for your service, that is just a shotcut to avoid the real problem.

It's not up to me to give you to anyone, Your question was so *** backwards that I was the only one who answered it, this is what you wrote,"the sound to work on channel 4.1 which is CBS" Isn't that 4.1 pal

You are watching local channels with a standard roof antenna, and you want to pull channel 4 in clearer, try a different antenna, you already tried the amp, there isn't any other solution, greetings from Boca Raton India

Forgot my parent control password and i cant watch tv

This sounds like a common problem on these TVs. Try a factory reset:

1. Press and hold "Menu" and "Channel+" on the TV. (do not use the remote)
2. Using the other hand, press the Power button.
3. A small screen should appear in the top left part of the screen.
4. Using the remote, select "Memory Recall" and Enter.
5. Power off and reboot the TV and Computer.
6. Run channel auto-scan to regain the picture.

Do you have power surge or failure issues with your electricity? Try plugging your TV into an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) to get line conditioning and the continuous power.

Otherwise, I'd guess there is something else causing memory failures (bad chip or something).

I hope this helps.

Can change the sound with my remotes

I recently bought a GE universal remote control, SKU: 24950, that has a control code for the AOC A17W221 TV. I bought mine at Target. You can check online to see if your local store has one before you go there. It's also listed on the GE site under consumer electronics accessories with a price. Don't know if they sell it online, though.
