It sounds like it is set to a TV station and since all the analogue stations have now gone you will only get static. Without a remote you wan't be able to switch it. I suggest you either shop around for a replacement (try Curry's partmaster) or use a universal one.

Vhs is stuck in machine. Won't play and won't eject.

There are any number of reasons why it won't play. The loading basket is jammed, the video tape has got tangled up in the mechanical section of the vcr or the loading gears are stripped. Unplug machine and remove top, [screws side and back] if the tape is spewed carefully remove by cutting it and clean tape particles, for any other problem have a technician check it out.

** TV won't turn on.** No picture or sound. Please Help !

If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First, try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there. You are simply switching. If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

Toshiba V231 UK VHS manual is lost. Since last week I disconected and then replaced to my Toshiba TV. I can not Autotune it back to play VHS recvordings. I get sound but the tracking just flickers up the...

Hello,

I believe you are using a RF wire Connecting a VHS, then searching TV station is an old way. I would recommend you use a RCA wire. By so doing, you won't need to tune any station on your TV. All you need to is select Source (AV) on the TV and the VHS would automatically display on your TV.

Below is what the RCA cord looks like:

walesarumi_111.jpg

The yellow stands for video (display), while the red and white stands for audio left and right (sound).

Purchase this cord from any electronics part store within your area, it's not expensive at all.

Look at the back of your TV, connect the yellow cord to "Video IN", connect the red and white to "Audio IN". Then connect the other end of the cord to Yellow: "Video OUT", and red or white to "Audio OUT", at the back of the VHS.

After the above connection, turn on the VHS, insert a tape, and press play. While the VHS is play, turn on the TV, select Source (AV) on your TV and your VHS will start displaying and you will hear sound.

I hope the above is clear. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards.

I'm trying to fix my 21 inch JVC TV, its on standby mode i detected the problem it was Horizontal output transistor, when i replace it with new one it work but after 24 days it got shorted again so i...

depending on circuit design in some TVs when flyback becomes defective then (1) only flyback gets deffective or (2) flyback & 1 transistor big in size fixed near flyback gets deffective or (3) flyback, big transistor & resistor or diodes or some times ICs will get deffective ..........so flyback replacement is compulsory + which ever components gets deffective ....... usually flyback gets deffective after 4yrs (between 4yrs to 12 yrs depending on TV brand & usuage ) .............so in your case along with horizontal transistor replace flyback also ..................... Remove that flyback from main board ? using marker make a mark (1 dot on knob & at the same line put another dot on flyback --- these 2 dots should be in same line ) on all the knobs on fly back ....now turn all the knobs one by one in anticlockwise direction slowly until it stops .... Then observe from the mark which you made before turning .. --- you will get an idea which knob howmuch it was turned in anticlockwise direction.... now take flyback to electronic shop & buy same type ( equivalent will not work )......at the shop itself check part number , number of pins & their position of old flyback with that of new flyback ----- everything should match 100% - nothing less nothing more .... it should be exact .... check many shops...now turn all the knobs of new flyback in anticlockwise direction very very very slowly until it stops....now fix it to mainboard very slowly & carefully....don't forget to connect red wire from flyback to TV TUBE ...again iam repeating don't forget to connect red wire from flyback to TV TUBE .... Now observe mainboard carefully whether any connector is not connected ....now connect only tv powercord & stay at a distance & switch on Tv for 2 seconds & then switch of immediately....during this 2 seconds TV gets on & led also gets on continuosly (won't blink) & there should not be any smoke or sounds on main board ...this confirms you have replaced flyback without disturbing other components & not shorted any joints..... so now again switch on tv ..wait 3 or 4 seconds ...led will be on but there won't be any picture ... Don't worry ....in the beginning you have observed howmuch knobs on your old flyback were turned in anticlockwise direction....remember..? see your old flyback again.... Now using suitable screew driver turn all the knobs on new flyback in clockwise direction one by one very very very slowly ...untill as it was in old flyback ( approximately ) --- remember TV is in on condition ... means high voltage will be there ... bymistake if you touch any part of the tv .. you will get very severe shock.... So be very very very carefull ..now while doing this adjustment observe what is happening on the screen - how brightness is changing ... Now switch off tv....connect signal ( antenna or dvd or cable..) & again switch on TV ....so now depending on brightness & clarity of the picture ..looking at the tv screen again you have to turn 1 or all the knobs on flyback either in clockwise direction or in anticlockwise direction very very very slowly ..once you start doing this adjustment practically then automatically you will come to know which knob should be turned . in which direction - & howmuch it has to be turned .... But remember this adjustment is very important .. Sometimes it will take 30mins to finalise the exact position.of knobs .. so take your owntime & finalise the exact position of those knobs..then switch off tv ..fix back the tv cover .. then switch on tv again ....that's all .......100% GUARANTEE again your tv will work normally ....vishnuswamy_23.jpg

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RECORD

Well it depends on what you're recording. If you're trying to record from the T.V. your going to have issues because of the recent switch to digital. If you're recording from homemade VHS to DVD however just put in your VHS, then your blank DVD and hit record. There should be some on screen instructions displayed.
Hope it Helps! -Joe
Also you'll probably also have issues trying to convert your old VHS movie collection to DVD because most of the movies would probably be copyright protected.
