these scanner take a bit of work-open the front and then close the front- there is a latch to open the front of the scanner at the top of the front panel. this will clear the 04-08 or 24 error.
sometimes it's best to switch the scanner off and then back on which will reset the connection between the scanner and the PC

First get a multimeter and check if the power is going through the adapter to the end of the cord. The AC/DC transformer should output 32V DC at the end going into the scanner. If it has power, then the scanner power switch or the unit itself has failed. If there is no power passing through the cord, then try a new adapter. (You can find some by Googling - I saw some from various vendors.) If it is the scanner itself that has failed, check if it is under warranty.
If it is under warranty, contact HP for service. They may have the power cords as well but I didn't check that far. Otherwise decide if it is worth the service charges.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (at least I do not think this scanner has a hard power switch on the side of the unit.)
When you scan a picture it will be saved as a file in a directory When you scan a document, there are 2 ways to do it. You can as an image in which case it may be automatically saved in a directory with the names like scan0001, csan002 etc If you selected the option to scan as a document then "scan to " should show few programs in the list like Microsoft document, notepad etc. If you do everything the correct way, and still no list comes up, probably you have to reinstall the HPSolution Centre or update it from the HP website. Good luck luciana44
I take it the scanner is connecting to your pc okay? the paper need to engage in the feeder. Try just putting one piece of a4 copy paper in the scanner and seeing if that will register as beng paper in the document feeder.
