Question about Fujitsu Stylistic LT C-500 Tablet PC

1 Answer

Low screen intensity

I just bought a used Stylistic LT C-500. The screen is not nearly as bright as one that I already have. It also does not change intensity from when it is connected to an adapter or running off the battery. In fact when it is on the adapter it is not as bright as my good one when it is on battery. Any ideas? Who has the best price on 256 MB memory boards for this unit>

Hello. As far as your screen is concerned... it's one of a few issues. Let's range them worst to best case scenario. Worst case... your back-light is beginning to fail, solution is to purchase a new lcd for it... or buy one off of ebay to use as parts. Next, you could have a bad connection inside your case to your back-light, solution is to CAREFULLY open the computer up and check all of the connections. And finally, you could (I'm almost positive you've looked already) try using the < and > arrows next to the sun on the bottom right of the screen area to increase > or decrease < your brightness. Another possibility, is check when you boot up... is it bright up till the point where you load windows... and then it suddenly get dark? If so reinstall windows to fix the problem. For memory I would strongly suggest ebay. I recently purchased a 256mb chip (make sure to get the low density *works better compatibility wise*) for under 20 bucks with shipping... but make sure it's from someone who has a DOA guarantee (Dead On Arrival) so that if nothing else... you can get your money back. This memory probably won't be anything to brag to momma about... but it does the trick... I've got mine running XP on that 256mb stick. And I've never noticed my screen getting brighter or dimmer on AC power vs. battery power... but it could just be me. Hope this helps! Good luck and godspeed!

Why would I buy this Tablet? (Fujitsu Stylistic LT C-500)

You may be wondering what an antiquated piece of computer's history could do for you, now in the year 2009. The answer may surprise you. This tablet has (when properly fitted) enough power and spirit to run XP, as a matter of fact it runs XP better than the included Windows 2000, or Windows 98SE. The thing makes this device a real possibility is the fact that it's so cheap! You can easily purchase one of these tablets for under $200 on ebay, fully ready to go with Windows 2000. Now... with Windows 2000 your options of what do use this for are a little more limited. The size and power of this device make it a perfect in car and on the go PC. Add a GPS USB dongle (about $40) and Streets and Trips (about $30-$40) and you've got yourself a turn by turn navigation pc. Have alot of .mp3's? Get a FM transmitter (about $20) and you've got music in your car that you control, and it's even cheaper than an iPod. Want to watch movies on the go? Grab a slimline DVD-ROM (about $50) and hook it up to your USB port, or just get a thumb-drive (about $10) and grab those .avi's off of your PC at home. If you've got a little know how you can upgrade the puny 6gb hard drive for something with a little more space, like say 40-80gb (about $40). While your pulling it out why not upgrade to XP... and truly unlock this little tablet's potential. XP allows quicker access to USB devices, more stable program performance, and better tools for your touchscreen experience. XP install is a minor pain in the rear... but worth it in the end. To ensure the best experience upgrade your RAM to the maximum of 256mb (about $20). If your looking for something cheap, reliable, and small enough to fit in your active life, look no farther than the Fujitsu Stylistic LT c-500.

Need to replace lcd screen on a Fujitsu lt c500

Below is a link to tech support chat page for Fujitsu products. The Fujitsu site does offer a user manual, however, you need a service manual. Being a customer, you should be able to order a service manual for your notebook thru fujitsu. Here is the link for the chat page:

This is a good place to start. I hope that you find this information helpful and will leave feedback to that effect if you do.

Is a processor upgrade possible

no, it will not handle a pentium4, but you could get a much faster p3 for it. and the ram amount doesnt depend on the processor type, it depends on the motherboard and os. and it looks like 256 is the maximum ram for that model.

Does the Fujitsu 500 or 600 have electronic signature capablility

I don't see why, if the correct software is installed, it wouldn't be able to do it. Both devices have a passive digitizer, meaning that you "write" on the screen. Though you would need to insure that the software is windows 2000 compatible, or hire someone who has the experience with either device to install XP on it for you. Hope this answers your question! Good luck and Godspeed!

Win XP on Fujitsu stylistic lt c-500

Ok... after much slaving, trial and error, and just plain getting frustrated I finally figured out how to install XP on a Fujitsu Stylistic LT c-500 with EVERYTHING working!! The installation is difficult and time consuming but well worth it. Getting XP on the blasted thing is part of the difficult uphill battle... but Mr. Mark Rehorst does a wonderful job of explaining it here. Follow the directions carefully keeping in mind that you MUST have the cd-key for the EXACT CD you use... and that to install XP and get everything to work you really need at least a 20gb hdd and 256mb ram. Without those your system will be slow. Next once XP is up and 'running' you'll notice that your touchscreen is not working. Download the CIC XPen off of the Fujitsu support site... now here comes the interesting part. Unpack the driver to C:\Drivers\Pen once you've unpacked it find the file called fujpen.inf open it in notepad to edit it. You will see:
[ControlFlags] ExcludeFromSelect=*FUJ02B6
Make sure the last digit is 6 in that string... this is saying to exclude that model in the driver. If it's anything other than a 6 change it to a 6. Now then... further down you'll see:
[FPC.Mfg] %FPC.DeviceDesc0% = pendrv, *FUJ02B6
Now... remember what I said about the 6 above? Yeah... the driver is fighting with itself, help it out and change the last number to a 7. Save the .inf file. Go to your device manager right click on the unknown device and update it with the modified file... and presto changeo your touchscreen works!! Now for the other unknown device in there, it is called the Fujitsu FUJ02B1 Device Driver. Unfortunately Fujitsu dosen't include a driver for this... but if you google search it you should come across and they'll have it. You will have to sit through a few ads to get it... but wow... the world that is unlocked by xp on this tiny little pad is amazing! Good luck!

Stylistic LT C500

I had a similar issue, the inverter has a component that broke, had to order a new one. I opened the unit and saw the component that broke, its a long ferrite piece that I guess acts as a capacitor. anyway, I took the part number off the board and did a search on ebay where I found one for about $25, this fixed my problem. good luck.
