Re: scanned image comes out all black
The scanner has a locking device for transport. If it has inadvertently gotten flipped it will cause this issue. Look for the little green or blue tab labeled "Lock" "Unlock" making sure it is unlocked.

It's a problem with the scanner hardware. Make sure the lock on the scanner isn't set. Some models come with a locking switch under the scanner or at the border of the scanning plate towards the back of the machine. If the scanner is unlocked or it doesn't have a lock switch, then is a unrecoverable hardware failure. You should replace the scanner or get it repaired.
Try uninstalling and reinstall the scanner again. Try on a different computer. If even after this the problem remains, may be the there is some hardware fault (failure of light) in the scanner. How is it in color?
Hi, it is possible that your scanner has a transport locking lever or knob underneath which might have been keeping the carriage locked in place. Try checking and release if there is one.
Hope this works for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
The issue at hand here is a sensor error. Cut the power to the machine for at least five seconds. Then reboot the scanner and the sensors should reboot. This solved the problem for us. Good luck to you.
