1 GB is the amount of storage space that the camera has to record on and nothing to do with its size!

Welcome to Fixya.

You might have bought the Micro SD Card. Your camcorder's memory stick is either a SD Card (the standard size, not the Micro) or a MMC Card. See pictures below:

You can purchase it at a great deal on Amazon. Click the link below to take a look.

Just bought a used JVC GR-HD1 camcorder. Bought two new SanDisk SDHC 8GB memory card. When I press "record" I get a "card error" message with both of them. Are they the wrong type of...

This camera can not use an SD card of that size. Just like with any computer intergraded hardware, they have to write parameters of that day into the operating system of the device. They can not just leave it "open ended" to allow any size that might be available in the future. I believe the maximum is 1GB of standard SD speed (as in not the max of ultra speeds). 1GB would be more than enough at the resolution this camera will store still frames (it can not store video on SD cards). This is from personal experience with my own GR-HD1U.

I bought an sd micro chip for my jazz dv151 camcorder, but everytime i put the chp in it reads memory full. The chips work in anything else but wont work in the camcorder. How do I fix this?

Whats the size of your SD Micro chip? Is it 4GB or larger?

You probably bought a SD-HC chip (wich includes 4GB and larger chips). Any SD card that is bigger than 2GB is in this HC-format and will only work if the device supports it.

As you can see here in the description, your device does infact only support SD cards up to 2GB. http://www.amazon.com/Jazz-DV151-Digital-Video-Camera/dp/B001F7MXJS

I guess you will need to use smaller ones in order to make them work with your camcorder.

Best regards from Germany :)

SD CARD

The 2 Gbytes SD card will work for sure !
The only questions it is about if it will take the so called SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) which are all the SD cards bigger than 2 GBytes.

Check the user manual/guide for any information regarding SDHC before you buy. and always buy the fastest SD card !! ;-)

Memory Card Problems

According to the samsung website " Samsung camcorders manufactured in 2004 and later can be used with memory sticks up to 1GB. Anything over 1GB is not guaranteed to work. "

I have the same problem. Video works fine on my 256MB card but not on my 4GB or 8GB cards. It would be nice to know if anyone has success with a particular card >1GB.

Hitachi dz-hs500e camcorder

The DZ-HS500E takes a full sized SD card, your Sandisk is a 512MB microSD card. You need an adaptor (one came with the card if you bought the normal retail package) to fit this card into any standard SD device (see photo here: http://www.i1010.co.uk/p78171/sandisk_microsd_512mb_w_3_in_1_adapter.htm).

There's a demonstration video that shows the SD slot here:

It seems to be somewhat below the viewfinder.
