We set the time zone to '7' , which is Hawaii time zone where there is no change for daylight savings. This came up because it changed automatically on this morning...and although we can change it back, then it won't change next week when it should. So we're hoping that by setting it to Hawaii it will be a regular clock, we will do the changing...but at least we won't be surprized as we were this AM. lb
There was a sheet of paper that came with my clock explaining how to adjust the daylight savings time settings, but I lost it. Anyone have theirs? All i know is it requires that you press an awkward combination of buttons simultaneously, but that's it.
Sorry it took so long to reply to you questions. The following web link will take you to the Emerson Customer Support web site for making the Changes for the New Daylight Saving standard. You will need a pdf reader and writer to read the web page and make a copy for your use. [http://www.emersonradio.com/owners/SmartSet%20Series/DST%20Information.pdf] Copy this web page link and paste it into the address bar of your web browser. If you are still having problems with making the setting for the new daylight saving standard you can call the Emerson customer support at this telephone number 1-800-909-1240. Call them between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm central time USA. Give them the make and model number of your Clock/Radio. Ask them for their assistance to help you make the correct settings for your Clock/Radio. I hope this information helps you, solve your problems with the setting of the Clock/Radio, to the new daylight savings standard. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!
The Daylight Saving dates appear to be hard-coded per the manual:
• Start of Daylight Saving Time:
At 1:59.59 AM on the first Sunday in April, the clock will automatically advance to 3:00 AM.
• End of Daylight Saving Time:
At 2:59.59 AM on the last Sunday in October, the clock will automatically reset to 2:00 AM.
So the easiest thing to do is to change your time zone up or down one for the period between the new DST date and the old -- or you can buy a new SmartSet for about $15. The newer ones do not have the same problem.
I have the same model, and I haven't found any sites that give a permanent solution. I did find a workaround for this model, which seems to fall in the "Group One" category on the following site. It is at least more of a one-touch solution (4x/yr) than manually moving the time forward/backward 4x/yr.
