I purchased a Microsoft Life cam/ I get brilliant pictures but no sound at all. My Pcis XP Do I need to set anything? I had another New stand alone Microphone .before this and I had the same sound recording problem Is there a way to set the microphone setting soas to have it respond to input sound?

Reinstall software for cam on Microsoft

If your sound is working everywhere but not in the webcam, check the settings of your webcam to see if microphone is disabled. Reinstall microsoft life cam software if you cannot make it working. If you don't have the software, go here to download it

u may not be able to use the 2000pro because the web cam is set to use the updated version in XP. if u can not get the drivers to work than u will have to look up the web cam and look for the drivers through that company from the cam.

Open skype go to tools options scroll to audio settings or video settings you can see the webcam there you can even take a snapsot also make sure your settings are correct for a video call

Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager

scroll to image devices exand you could a yellow ? question mark or yellow exclamation mark ! or a red x this will tell you that your driver has been corrupted a new driver needs to be installed

Often the XP drivers are compatible with Vista, but you can always check if there is a Vista driver for the life cam. Check the Microsoft website, or use a driver finder program to locate the right driver.

If your sound card is not embedded into the motherboard and it's stand alone try switching it to another pci port on the mother board. If it's not stand alone check out the Asus forums

do you get the same effect just viewing cam picture
have you uninstalled and reinstalled cam
you need to set up cam with skype
follow instructions

Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on
Audio Settings
and set the Microphone and Speakers
to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera if installed properly
will come up and show a picture.
Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
