TFC-MSC1000/TFC-MST1000 doesnt not have Auto MDIX so make sure you connect the TFC to a Gigabit(1000Mbps) port on the Cisco switch. If it is connected to a 10/100Mbps, you cannot get a link light

What is the functio of dmc300m converter

Generally these media converters are used to translate a signal from an incoming fiber connection to a normal data type connection using an RJ45 data port connector so that the fiber signal can be used with routers in a computer network. There are probably several small round connectors on one side and a normal data port connector on the other with a place for a power cord.

Some businesses and organizations use a fiber type wire for higher speed data transfer than normal cable or telephone lines can provide.

I hope that you found this explanation helpful.

How can I Connect DMC 700SC Media Converter to my network

DMC-700SC converter is a Multi-mode device. That means your fibre cable must be MM.You need two of these converters and patchcords to match. Your UTP cables must also be connected to two gigabit switches. The link light must be seen on the media converters .

Experience packet drops when traffic is above 10Mbps. What could be the problem?

As I can find on the internet it is 100BaseTX to 100BaseFX media connverter, so problems migh be with any UTP connection that is not 100BaseTX.

I had experienced similar problem with AT MC, with power supply, when the level is a bit lower so it bright all the diodes except the emitting diode. As I had changed the power supply it started working correctly. I suppose that the level of voltage was not enough to properly work with diode electronics. As this is SM converter this problem might be more present because of laser diode which is sensitive on more surrounding problems.

The problem also might be the Auto-sense function on UTP port.

Cisco AS5300 gateway FoIP problem

Once I had a problem with Ethernet auto negotiation, fax-es and AS5300. all links in fax IP path had to be set to fixed configuration (ex. 100 Mbps full-duplex).

Cisco equipment could not autonegotiate link speed by itself (VG248, C3550 and AS5350), so it tried every few seconds to re-negotiate ethernet link speed, and those extra packets broke fax transmision over IP. Voice worked OK, at the same time.

Hope it helps..
