Pop up plug cannot be connected in the drain

Turn it around the other direction. Not upside-down, just rotate it 180 degrees. The stopper lever will fit through the hole in its end one way or the other.

I would say, if you have worked on older cars you can handle pulling the rad and replacing the drain assembly, just watch tightening parts into the plastic rad tank.If the rad looks grungy at all when you get it out, replace it.

I want a drain for my shower that I can step on to plug it; and, then step on it again to open it?

I have never seen a pop up the size needed. You can use a Kitchen flap plug. They are made of plactic or rubber about 1/8 inch thick and large enough.

I have a brand new moen faucet 2 handled chrome model.. i was cleaning it and the pop down plug became detattched.. now i can't get the plug out or the water thats being held in the sink.. what do i do

Take a look under the sink. The mechanical pop up has likely become disconnected from the rod that goes into the drain to control the pop up plug. You should be able to just reconnect it and the drain should work fine. If this doesn't solve the problem please let me know. Please remember to rate this solution, your feedback is important. Have a great day.

My daughter pushed down on the plug & now it doesnt pop up!! lever at back doesnt work as the suction is so good!

drain assembly can be taken apart from under the lav. first loosen the stopper lever assembly. then proceed to loosening up the slip-nut on piping nearest to the drain. The drain is held to bottom of sink by a nut tightened to a thick rubber washer. Remove nut and remove drain. Dislodge stopper. Replace drain with fresh plumbers putty, underneath lip of drain where it makes contact with inside of lav. Reassemble drain piping and lever.

Installation.

Get under the sink inside the cabinet to do this. First, take loose and remove the connection of the arm that goes into the drain tail piece. It is on the back side of the drain piece and connects to the rod that you pull up on the faucet when you close the drain. Next, loosen and remove the nut on the back side of the drain tail piece that holds the drain lever in place. When you remove this, it will allow the old pop up plug to be removed. You put the new pop up plug in by reversing the proceedure. Make sure the rod gets inserted into the new drain pop up and the nut is snug enough to make a water tight seal when you reassemble it. Reconnect the pull rod and you are done.

We have an American Standard lifetime whirlpool tub with the pop up drain (white). However, the pop up drain plug has always been tempermental but now it no longer wants to stay down.

Chances are that the drain assembly was not part of the tub but a 'generic' plumbing part. Is this pop up drain the type that you push down and it clicks closed and push down and then it pops up? It unscrews from the drain fitting and you can get a replacement at a big box store. A better pop up replacement is one called a Rapid-fit. It drains faster.
