Question about Televison & Video
Okay someone Vandlised my Television and Scratched an X with a Key when you turn it on towards the end of the X it went so deep you can see white! Is it ruined and how much do you think it would cost to fix because I have to send it in to the manufactor since no one fixes it since it's a Proton. It's a Spectrum IQ it's only been out since 2006. Would it be just better to go get a new television instead of sending it in or would it be cheaper to fix it!?
Hello im sorry that happened to you it is so wrong. it is very costly to repair a panel even if you can send it to the co. it will cost as much as a new tv to repair. it may be a better choice to get a new one instead. it will cost as much or more than a new set take advantage of the specials going on for the holiday. the technology is advanced now 2006 lcd and plasma models are okay but the new generation 2008-09 lcd and plasmas are definitely better and have better picture 1080p and better clarity they also work better with the new hdtv systems and blue ray dvd players.
its up to you but if you can afford to fix this panel you can afford a brand new set..
you can allways sell the damadged one on a auction site someone will buy it for the parts or to repair it. so youll get something back for it of even take your time and have it repaired if they give you a decent price. lets see the new set will run you about 700 and a new screen panel replacement can cost up to 1000$ or even more if it is a plasma
try installing a hidden security cam so next time you can catch the person whos doing this they might do it again so be careful if you do get a new one..
good luck happy holidays..

Because the screen is damaged it most likely will not be cheap to fix, If the manufacurer will fix it under warantee then go for it, you could also search for a replacement panel, but they are generally expensive, usually more expensive than the tv itself. Sounds dumb but its true. How much did you pay for the tv? Whats the model number? Call some of your local repair shops and see if they can get you a screen, worth a shot.
