Question about Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 Motherboard
I cant get the onbord sound to work
Make sure the onboard sound is enabled in the BIOS settings.
Be sure the jumper plugs between pins 5 & 6 and 9 & 10 on the F_AUD connector on the board are installed (unless they have been removed to plug in a cable to audio connectors on the case). Without these the sound won't go to the output jack on the board.
Reinstall sound drivers.
This will get you to Gigabyte's download page for this board. There are several versions so you'll need to pick yours from the list.
Download and install the sound driver to make sure you have the latest version. Then verify your sound settings in Windows to be sure you don't have anything muted.
Be sure your speakers are hooked up correctly (plugged in to the correct jack, proper power, etc.).
If nothing gets the sound working you may have a problem on the motherboard. Get a sound card and install it in one of the PCI slots to replace the onboard sound. These often give better sound quality than the onboard audio anyway.
