Question about Amana 22.6 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with FrontFill Ice and Water

No airflow from refrigerator vents

Hi, I have a whirlpool ED0GTQ side-by-side which recently stopped blowing air through the vents. I was thinking it's the evaporator fan, but I haven't heard any unusual noises coming from it (like if the bearings were going bad). Is there a way to test it so I can make sure it's not something more serious before replacing the evaporator fan motor?
Thanks!

While it could be the fan, it is more likely that you have ice in the passages...which can also jam a fan.  Defrost the unit completely to clear the passages, clean the evaporator (under the unit) and avoid keeping the door open in the future.  Uncovered containers also contribute to frosting up.  When refilling the fridge, be aware of location of vents and allow air passage.

Being built by amana there is something else to check ,,, the defrost themostat on the evap coil may be bad in which the fan wont run .... check it and see if the evap coil is frosted up and the themostat isnt swollen ,,, if all that is ok then replace the fan motor

Ac unit isn't blowing

It sounds like your freezing up at the coil, which in turn, blocks airflow across coil and only a small amount of air comes out of the vents. This also explains the cold air coming from fan on the outside unit, since the system cannot absorb the heat from the inside of the house through the coil. Your air outside is usually blowing out warm to hot air because thats the heat it rejects out of your system. I would turn the thermostat to "OFF" and turn just the fan setting to "ON" instead of Auto, this thaws the system out faster. Give it time to fully thaw, make sure filters are clean, and check airflow. If airflow is back to normal, your problem is more than likely the charge of refrigerant. If you have to call a technician out, make sure the unit is not frozen at all before they get there, they would not be able to do anything with the system froze. Hope this helps and good luck!

Upright side by side. Refrigerator is getting warmer. Fan/vent on top is blowing okay. Vent at bottom left-above the bin-does not blow. Is it supposed to blow or is it just a vent? Coil is clean. ...

inside your freezer behind the vent if you stick your hand on the inside you should feel air blowing if not then the fan is gone if the fan is slowly making revolutions then you should replace also you can find the part at marcoe appliance parts or allbrands appliance parts they willmail directly to your door hope this helps plz write back if it is not your fan inside the freezer

Is the vent on the side of the crisper suppose to blow out cool air?I have a whirpool side by side..8years old

No, that vent is for the return air going back to the freezer. The vent at the top is where the freezer fan blows air into the fridge.

Whirlpool Side by Side: Freezer freezes refrig doesn't cool.

check for a blockage. There is only one cooling section, divided by airflow for freezer / fridge.
Perhaps something sticky is in the vents, or the freezer section has poor airflow, resulting in ice formation.
Unplug the unit for several hours, clean out vents, and make sure freezer section has good airflow from the vents.

Whirlpool side by side (106.56692501). Refrig was not cooling but freezer is. Freezer is slowly heating up though. Unit is still running. It just isn't blowing air into the refrigerator.

You have ice in freezer fins. You need to remove back panel inside of freezer, melt all the ice replace panel, plug refridge back in. The ice causes bad airflow to the refridge side, causing to heat up.

Refrigerator wont get cold enough

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

The refrigerator on my side by side doesn't appear to be cooling as cold as it used to be. It's maintaining about 50 degrees. I've turned the knob up to the coldest level, but it doesn't get any colder...

Check the evaporator fan inside the freezer compartment. You should hear it running if you open the door while the compressor is running. It blows cold air from the freeer into the fridge. If the fan is running, there could be a problem with the damper which regulates airflow into the fridge.
