the only light is flashing when pushing the start button is a lighting symbom light indicator..there is no harddrive movements or anything else.. cann't get into anything , screen is no response.

i bought it one month u think it might be the CMOS battery problem.

It sounds like a motherboard problem. Did you install anything new? If you can get into the Bios, it can be fixed, but if you cannot boot at all the likellyhood is that you either blew the processor or the motherboard. Also were you gaming when it happened?

That's all you can do right now. I have had similar actions occur, but you need to try that before anything else, also if you are comprtable taking the side off of the case, you will be able to "clear" the cmos, by removing the jumper the pop out the battery, wait a few minutes put the battery in and the jumper on. Try to start it, if it won't start then we need to go thru the process of elimination. Does that motherboard have a dual bios, or a check system light on the board, some beep some blink, etc. This is on the board itself not the outside on the case. Let me know and we can at least have a starting point to figure out which component is the culprit.

Power led flashing. Why won't it boot?

Hi Jeremy,

My name is Pradeep and I work for Dell's Social Media Team.
The flashing LED power light means the power supply is receiving power from the source, but is unable to properly distribute it to the components.
Please turn off the system and unplug only the power cable and disconnect external devices. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Plug in the power cable and check the status.
Please remove CMOS battery and wait for 5 minutes to drain the power from motherboard. Please try reseating with spare CMOS battery and check the results. If this doesn't , please contact local technician for further assistance.

Compac d-530 won't start red light under power button flashing

Take out the battery and only hook up the AC Adapter. Try turning on your laptop and if you still only get a flashing power button then try another AC Adapter. If the same thing happens then that means the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

Wont turn on i get a flashing lite in the power on button

A flashing power light usually indicates a hardware failure. Try unplugging the computer for 30 second then turn it back on and see if it starts. If you plug it back in and it starts flashing again it is a bad piece of hardware (probably motherboard but no way to know for sure without testing)

Dell XPS400 No Start!!

If you fan isn't turning like it should, it is definitely a power supply issue. Go out and purchase a power supply with 250-300 watts...thats a good standard wattage!!

My computer does not boot

No bios no post and no power lights on disk drives means hardware problem.

Either call a technician or try the following if you feel you can do it yourself, beware , there is always risk of damaging your PC on DIY.

unplug the computer, open PC and remove all plugs and internal and external devices, leaving only a minimal set of devices.

Start the motherboard with only Power adapter , one RAM module, and video card and screen connected. Unplug all disks and external devices, remove all pci cards.

If it still does not start take it to a repair shop, you may need to replace power supply, motherboard or ram.
