If the controllers light up then the system is turning on. Does the green light come on under the power button on the Xbox console? If so then I bet your system is working... Did you use the video cable that came with the system? If so then check to see if you have the switch on the cable set to HDTV or Analog depending on TV...

My controller and xbox wont connect

To connect the controller to your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button until the controller turns on. The Xbox Guide button is the round button with the green "X" near the center of the controller.
  2. Make sure that your Xbox 360 console is turned on. If your Xbox 360 console is not turned on, press the power button. The power button is the large round button on your Xbox 360 console.
  3. On the Xbox 360 console, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small round button on the Xbox 360 console.
  4. On the controller, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small button on the front edge of the controller, between the left bumper button and the charging port.
  5. After the Ring of Light spins and flashes one time on the controller and on the console, the controller is connected. The quadrant on the Ring of Light that remains lit indicates the position in which the controller is connected.

My second wireless controller for my xbox360 wont work.

You still have to hit the sync button on the controller and on the console to marry them. Just like when you first got the console. Just hit the small round button on the console that is between the memory card slot 2 and the power button, and the sync button on the top of your controller. The lights on both will spin then lock. They will be married and you will see the controller 2 light on on your ring.

My Xbox 360 controller wont work.

There is a small button on the console. First, turn on the console and controller. Next push the button on the console - it's a small round button on the front between the power button and the memory chip slots. Next, push the tiny button on the controller between the left & right finger triggers. The 2 must find each other. This will send a bouncing signel to each other. After that, go through the setup screens and set your defaults for having fun.

Setting up a 360 wireless controller

Turn Your Console and Controller On The Xbox® Guide button in the center of your controller puts the Xbox 360® experience at your fingertips. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button to turn your console on.
To turn on your console only, press the power button on your console. To turn on your controller only, press the Start button on your controller.
Once on, pressing the Xbox Guide button gives you immediate access to the Xbox Guide. To turn off your console, press and hold the Xbox Guide button for three seconds and then confirm your selection.
Turn Your Console and Controller Off To turn your console and controller off, press and hold the Xbox Guide button on your controller for three seconds. Then select whether you want to turn off just your controller or both your controller and your console. (Selecting the console will turn off both the console and all connected controllers.)
To turn off one controller when multiple wireless controllers are connected, press and hold for three seconds the Xbox Guide button of the controller you want to turn off, then select Turn Off Controller.
To turn off your console only, press the power button on your console
When you connect a controller to your console, it is assigned a specific quadrant, which glows green to indicate the controller's number and position. Each subsequent controller connected to the console (up to four) is assigned an additional quadrant.
If system problems should arise, the Ring of Light on the console will flash combinations of red.

I hope this solved your problem.
Happy Gaming!
