If your Wii is under a year old it will be under warranty. If you register at Nintendos website they actually will extend the warranty 90 extra days. here is the link to Nintendo customers service.

I bought a Wii console at walmart and I also bought the extended warranty, do I need to register and send something in? Or do I just keep the info with the receipt?

You will want to do both. Register your product with Nintendo for the first part of your warranty and the receipt is always required for extended warranty as well.

Register product

  1. Step 1 Head to Nintendo's Registration website (see Resources below). New users and returning members can register their consoles from within this domain, as well as contact customer service with questions.
  2. Step 2 Click the "Click here to become a member of My Nintendo and register your newly purchased Wii" link to create a new My Nintendo account if you don't already have one. Click on the "click here to register your Wii now!" link if you are already a member of My Nintendo.
  3. Step 3 Enter your birth date and click the "Sign Up" button when starting the entire registration/account creation process. If you're already a member, then you can simply type in your username and password in the appropriate field and click the "Log In" button.
  4. Step 4 Enter your Wii console serial number into the "Wii" field once you have logged in or completed account creation. You can also register other consoles or handhelds on this page, as well as up to four games you currently own.
  5. Step 5 Click the "Submit" link once you have finished filling in all appropriate serial numbers. Double-check your typing to ensure that you haven't made a mistake (invalid numbers will be returned as such if you submit them, but you'll be able to go back and retype if you make a mistake).

The system doesnt work. i have a warranty & want it replaced

If you registered your Wii console through your My Nintendo profile to extend your warranty, and your system is between 12 and 15 months old, please call 1-800-255-3700 for your repair options so that they can ensure your system is covered under warranty.

The is an online form you can fill out here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/repair_form_us.jsp

NOTE!

Nintendo can only accept a personal check or money order for repairs submitted using this online form. If you want to pay by credit card, please call Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700.

Hope everything works out!

Nintendo wii

(befory you read this, please excuse my leinghyness)
Well,

If you take apart the Wii very carefully, you might be able to get the game out (which you will most likely never be able to play again because the clicking noise is most likely the disc being rubbed against something) without causing damage to the Wii. Doing this is risking causing damage to your Wii (and yourself if you are too dumb to un-plug it.) so if you have bought your Wii less than a year ago,

Nintendo of America Inc. ("Nintendo") warrants to the original purchaser that the hardware product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase. If a defect covered by this warranty occurs during this warranty period, Nintendo or a NINTENDO AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER will repair the defective hardware product or component, free of charge. The original purchaser is entitled to this warranty only if the date of purchase is registered at point of sale or the consumer can demonstrate, to Nintendo's satisfaction, that the product was purchased within the last 12 months.

if you purchased your Wii more than a year ago,

SERVICE AFTER EXPIRATION OF WARRANTY
Please try our web site at www.nintendo.com or call the Consumer Assistance Hotline at 1-800-255-3700 for troubleshooting information and/or referral to the nearest NINTENDO AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER. In some instances, it may be necessary for you to ship the complete product, FREIGHT PREPAID AND INSURED FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE, to the nearest service location. Please do not send any products to Nintendo without contacting us first.

At least for US, the Wii has a one-year warranty.
If you register your Wii on Nintendo.com, you will get a 90-day extension to your warranty making it almost but not quite 15 months.

Wii is making me think ps3

if you had 2 year warranty at bestbuy your should have just brought it there for a new one, and even the refund for wii would not able you to get a PS3 they are unreasonably over priced and they're prices hardly go down at all, the reviews haven't been that great and alot of sony products (PS1, PS2, and PS3) breakdown like your wii if you are ditching your wii I would suggest a Xbox 360
