Try to hold down the play/pause button, then plug the cable in while still holding play/pause down for up to 60 seconds. The screen should light up and say initializing. our firmware went bad. Just got to the RCA website. http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/ search your make and model download the firmware. Then hook you mp3 player to usb device of your computer. After mp3 is hooked to computer Install the newly downloaded firmware.
It is easier to reformat the mp3 player. When the mp3 is plugged in to the PC, go to my computer, the double click the mp3 player there. You will see internal storage, right click that and click format. You will lose all the stuff on the mp3 player.

lyra will show up on other devices or portable devices
double click on the lyra icon
this will bring up another lyra icon right click on that
go down to the option format and select that
you will lose all of your music
