The tda chip you found audio at a pin ...well the Micro-processor controls this chip and might have at the lowest setting or mute... if you dont have a schematic to see the proccessor step controller voltage and measure it then 1: put the remote far in another room. 2 : check the volume down on the front of set and feel the button ...does it click or is pushed all the down?
also you can take out the mute transistor to see if the volume returns.

that is all I can help you with for now my friend.

Merry Xmas

What format is used when the VHS is copied to the DVD ? I have copied the VHS tapes onto Verbatim DVD-R discs. They will not play on my computer. Verbatim says I need to know what format they are in...

the most common in the US is NTFS. another used in other countrys is PAL. the format is seperated into regions, and they are as follows,
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

you can use MAGICdvdRIPPER softwareon your computer, it works with NTSC, and PAL formats and vice versa.

What is the country code for australia - lg dvd recorder

The geographical regions are as follows:

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Sirs: I have a new Sanyo 42" TV. We are on

Hello
If picture and sound is ok, and there is no colour, your push have sometimes made its system changed. I don't know from where you are, and to which country you belongs. Anyway I'll give you one solution.
Your Sanyo Tv may have multisystem compactable. There are mainly three systems in transmision of TV signals, called PAL [Phase Alternating Line], SECAM [Sequential colour and mamory] and NTSC [National Telivision System Committee]. Most of the europian countries have transmitters with SECAM and NTSC. I belongs to India, and here we have PAL BG system.

If the system has changed in the tv, the picture will not have chroma information, ie ,colour information, and black and white picture will be the result. You just do one thing. Just get into the Menu of your TV, according to its documantaion that you have, and go to the system menu, and make it "AUTO". This will solve your problem. Ok.

I have a TV sharp CATV bought in Belgium but installed in France where I cannot find the different channels. Can you send me the directions for use. Thank you.

Hello
The TV you have bought from Belgium, Sharp 25R-S100_ model can only recive NTSC [National Telivision System Commitee], signals only. It is not a multisystem compactable one. In France, the telivision boradcasts are in SECAM system I thinks and knows. [It is known as Sequrntial Colour and Memory]. The TV you have bought will work in US and other countries like that, where there transmission sytem is NTSC. I don,t know whether in France there is TV stations transmitting on NTSC system. If have, your TV will receive that transmissions. It is a system compactibility problem.
If the matter is so, nothing can be done to receive programmes transmitting in SECAM system. If a system convertable device is available in France, that is SECAM to NTSC system converter, you can connect it according to the instruction manual come along with that device.
Your TV is capable of receiving 181 channels and have PLL[ Phase Locked Loop] channel locking system, but have only capable of receiving NTSC RF signals. Ok

I've just tried to play a new DVD and it won't. Warning says to check PAL/auto settings - what is this?

Unfortunately, there are several different standards for TV transmissions around the world. The US has changed from the older NTSC (analog) to ATSC (digital) for over-the-air transmissions. I'm not sure if European have made the same transitions but they were once SECAM (France and Benelux countries) PAL for Germany and some others. None of these are compatible with each other and the signals used to carry synchronization, video and audio information had totally different standards.
I suspect either your DVD player or the disk is in the wrong part of the planet.

I have a Avol TV but now live in germany economy not on base anymore and canot get my TV to work help help help

Standards of the signals has changed since I left Germany in '74 but the set you have (you gave no model number) may not be capable of receiving both US and German signals. These have always been different and from what I just read, they still are in the current era of HD/digital signals which bear no resemblance to the earlier NTSC (US), PAL (Germany) and SECAM (France) signals.
In your case, I would find a buyer for the Avol set (someone still living on- base) and buy one for Germany.

There are currently 3 main television standards used throughout the world:

NTSC - National Television Standards Committee. The oldest existing standard, developed in the USA. First used in 1954. Consists of 525 horizontal lines of display and 60 vertical lines. Sometimes irreverently referred to as "Never Twice the Same Color." Only one type exists, known as NTSC M.
Here is a list of TV STANDAREDS I had for a while and can finally share it with someone. GOOD LUCK!!!! TECHMAN

SECAM - Système électronique pour Couleur avec Mémoire. Developed in France. First used in 1967. A 625-line vertical, 50-line horizontal display. Sometimes referred to by wags as "Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method" or SEcond Colour Always Magenta!" Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Types B and D usually used for VHF; types G, H, and K for UHF; types I, N, M, K1 and L for both VHF/UHF. Different types are generally not compatible.

PAL - Phase Alternating Line. Developed by German engineer Walter Bruch and the German electronic corporation Telefunken. Walter Bruch
patented his invention 1963 and the first commercial application of the PAL system was in August 1967. Also a 625/50-line display and variant of NTSC. Proponents call it "Perfection At Last." Due to the cost of the enormous circuit complexity, critics often refer to it as "Pay A Lot". Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Common types are B, G and H; less common types include D, I, K, N and M. The different types are generally not compatible.
