Question about E.Digital Sony DCR-TRV265E camcorder Pal

This camera may have a lens problem??

This is a sony DCR-TRV265.. I cannot see out of the viewfinder and the screen is black all the menu lights still appear however no picture.

is there a way of moving the lenses at home? it has been quoted at over 400 to fix or is there something else i can do to fix it

    Hi,
    Thanks for tryin to help out, it also could be a powersource problem or something along those lines. The camera doesnt record the picture at all..
    Im based in Australia and yeah its the DCR-TRV265E PAL.. Im actually curious to pull it apart and see if theres a loose wire somewhere???

Hi,
Let me know bit detail of problem...
You can not see live view on LCD and view finder in camera mode and can playback old recordings and picture result is OK,
If yes, then its bad ccd imager problem and ccd imager will be replaced.

DCR-TRV265E is PAL camera and I assume that you are in UK.

Here I provide you information to save 400 or some thing.
Sony will repair ccd imager problem free of cost. You can have details on Sony CCD Support.

contact sony via their website, there is a problem with the CCD chip which causes your problem, sony did a free repair to my camcorder.

I have a sony dcr-trv255e. I cannot get a picture in the viewfinder or on screen even though the lens cap is off. It plays tapes ok. Any ideas?


It is problem of bad CCD Imager and that part will be replaced.
Sony will replace ccd imager Free of Cost in DCR-TRV255E as per announced scheme.

Cannot record anything - can't see anything thro the viewfinder or in the screen

CCD Imager ( an electronic part) at the end of Lens Assy got defective thats why you can't see any result in camera mode.
Please contact nearset Sony repair shop for replacement of CCD Imager IC.

Viewfinder screen and viewfinder are black and lens is off


Make sure the selector switch is turned to record (the center position) and camcorder is turned on. Make sure the viewfinder is pulled out fully when you look in it. If that doesn't work try resetting the camcorder. Open the LCD and there is a small hole near the play button, gently push a paper clip in the hole all the way and press the power on button.
