Since switching to digital, we can't programme our SONY RDR-HXD860 to record programmes on different days, and it often cancels the programmes we have set to record. It seems unable to deal with any change to the scheduled time.

My 3-year old HXD860 is first in line for the TV signal from the correctly tuned and positioned external roof aerial. It feeds that signal to the Freeview tuner integral in my Panasonic TV. The only time I watch TV courtesy of the recorder's Freeview tuner is when I'm setting up the EPG. Over the past few months (well before the recent digital retuning debacle) channels carried on bandwidth 68 (ITV, CH4, etc) have suffered severe blocking and dropout in the recorder, making it impossible to record those channels (BBC channels were still 'strong' enough to record from). Recently the problem has got so bad that now even the previous 'strongest' signals (BBC) are unviewable via the recorder, and it is now no longer possible to record any channels at all. The interesting thing is that if I remove the recorder from the 'loop' and feed the TV signal direct from the aerial to the TV, the signal strength is shown as good and even the 'weakest' channels come through well. As soon as I plug the recorder back into the chain again, we're back to square one to the point that it seems to somehow add a resistance to the signal, causing otherwise perfectly good signal broadcasts to block and drop out on the TV. I strongly suspect that the recorder's tuner is seriously at fault, but I am going to have the TV aerial checked first anyway, although nothing has changed since I last spent heavily in this area 3 years ago, so I don't think that will resolve anything. Has anyone else encountered this problem and would you advise that I write the recorder off in favour of a replacement (currently there's an ex-showroom HXD890 available in my local high street TV retailer for £200 with a 5-year warranty)? I'm at my wits end and Christmas is on the way ... help please!!

I have hooked up my Sony DVD RDR HX780, it played a DVD fine last night, I recorded a program today, it appears on the list but when I try to play it, pressing HDD, all I get is static noise and no video watching it on the same line I watched the DVD last night. My hookup goes through a VCR, a RCA surround sound system and then to the TV. The cable goes directly into the receiver or the VCR, I think...there is no cable box. Any help?
