I bought a JVC TV (AV-29LX14) about 4 months ago. However, the picture does not fit in the screen. The left hand side and the bottom part of the picture (whether video or TV) is cut (overflows the viewable area of the screen). If watching CNN for example, the information that scrolls at the bottom is cut in half. If I put the 16:9 aspect ratio, am able to see the whole picture at the bottom, but the LHS is still cut. What is the cause of this problem, and how can it be corrected? The picture has been like that since I bought the TV.

Re: Picture not fitting on screen
If your tv has a warranty take it back to where you you bought it.or check if your remote has the zoom feature,if it does zoom it back.or else you will have to call the repair man to program it for you.

Picture tubes are available at electronic spare part shops. You have to give them the number and type of the picture tube, to which your JVC TV has. Picture tube, along with its Yoke fittings are integrated, and you can replace it by yoursef at home. Be very carfull in handling the picture tube, as they are highly vacumed, and will explde by hard hits. There will be four seating screws on the four corners of the picture tube, and these slots will clearly alaign if the picture tube selected is orginal number. Diamentions of these holes will be different to spherical and flat picture tubes. So you must first aware of the type of picture tube, which the TV has fitted earlier. OK.
I presume that the set is second hand?? They`ve got to fit the correct tube for safety reasons and the set is designed to work with that tube only for that size of set, HOWEVER, they may fit a regunned/refurbished or even a second hand tube in the set. Ian
Unfortunately, this is an internal adjustment that can not be done by you without voiding the warranty. Call the store and request warranty service. You should not have to pay to get this resolved.
I would have to say it does sound like the CRT is reaching its end. The thing that points this out that the picture gradually gets a little bit better as it warms up. It most likely isn't worth the cost to fix it.
You could have a power supply problem as parts do go bad. Why your set faile is a mystery.. Of course if your not a technician, a TV set is NO place to be experimenting with. It only about a year old you say But get the papers on this set if you can find them and make sure as there is a 12 month warranty on this model. You should contact JVC At 1-800-252-5722 or online at http://www.jvc.com/support/. Good Luck
