Possibly, you will need an original remote to disable or turn off this feature. And some child lock can be accessible through neither MENU of your tv or remote. Check CHILD LOCK option to remove it. If it is a screen lock type of CHILD LOCK feature of tv (a Blue Background display a LOCK icon) and your original remote is lost, try a universal remote for you to possibly unlock it. Thanks for using Fixya.
Apex TVs use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for many models is 6688. Other sets may not have one, or may have a default code of 1225 instead of an override code.
To use the override code:
Hit the MENU key to get to the menus.
Go down to the SYSTEM menu and hit the right arrow on the remote control.
Once in the SYSTEM menu, go to PARENTAL GUIDE. It will ask for your code.
Enter the override code listed above. From here, you can turn on and off different rating restrictions, as well as set a new code.
No matter what the V-chip code is set to, the override code will still work. If you have a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left, simply press the function or F button and the mute button at the same time. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired
The same thing happened to me. The manual on polaroid.com says to press and hold the F button (located at the top of the remote) and press the mute button at the same time. This will unlock as well as lock the TV. It's a child safety feature.
You might want to try the same solution for the V-Chip (this might be the same thing as the child lock, it is worth a try) protection to see if this will help:
Changing V-Chip Settings for MV13L3, TV/VCR Combo 2001.
-Unplug your tv for 1 minute. -Plug your tv in and turn it on. -hold the volume down button on the tv at the same time you hold the "0" button down on the remote. This will bring up the "Set V-Chip" blue screen. -Enter "0000" for the password and hit enter. Enter "0000" to confirm the password and hit enter. -This will bring up the V-Chip set page. From this page you can: Turn Off the V-Chip, Change the Limits for viewing, etc. -If you turn off the V-Chip setting, you will not have to deal with this problem again.
If your set has a blue screen with a small red lock on it, yes you are in the child lock mode, if there is no red lock on the blue screen then no you have another problem. The trouble is, if you are in the child lock mode, you cannot get out of it with out the proper remote hand unit. you will
need to get an original replacement remote from Here:http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=GT2015DV&brand_pn=APEX_GT2015DV&mode=large&uid=11834488446870
There is no other way I'm afraid. Good luck
* If you have a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left, simply press the (function or F) button and the mute button at the same time. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired.
* If your TV asks for a 4-digit code or password please enter 3308 or 6688 to unlock the screen or reset any preset rating levels.
* If you have a GT2011J or GT2011S Television, hold the (Display) button for 10 seconds, it will unlock the screen. If password or code is requested, try 3308 or 6688.
One of the above methods should get you past the lock. If so, I would take the opportunity to disable the lock in the TV's menu so this doesn't happen again.
If this still doesn't work, you can call Apex Customer Support at (800)880-1227.
