Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I need to reset the washer; after pausing to add clothes it is messed up.

I hit pause to add more clothes and now it won't run correctly. No water gets in and it does not turn. We have tired unpluging to reset it but that has not worked. We have also hit pause and waited 2 hours for it to cycle out. No luck with that either. Please help. Thank You

Re: I need to reset the washer; after pausing to add...

Here is the manual if you need it; page 7 and 11 says that pressing start/pause again once the door is shut should restart the cycle. If you have had no luck with this then possibly there is a problem with the washer pump filter - GE claim this is not user servicable and i haven't been able to find exact instructions - usually this would be behind the panel at the bottom of the front (this should click off but check before you break anything) there should be a small (3-4 inch) screw plug which can be undone to check the filter. GE may be telling the truth though and it may be inside the machine and hard to get to. Unfortunately I think you may need to get a service man to look at it - it sounds like the controller may have died Phone GE on 1-800-626-2005 and ask - maybe others have had this problem Hope this helps

I would unplug the washer to reset it. if you have already hit the power button to turn the unit off and it failed to respond. Newer washer machines are like computers, and smart phones these days. you have to reboot them because they do sometimes lock up. Pull the cord for about 5 minutes and see if that resolves your issue.

Check the lid switch and its actuator on the lid. The pause you're getting is likely an open lid sensed by the washer control. Also try to push and pull the inner tub up and down a few times - if I remember correctly these washers have a floating basket, which engages the gears when there is enough weight inside. If there is not enough clothes it may not wash correctly (I don't remember exactly, but try it anyway, what do you have to loose? ;) ).

I wanted to take some clothes out during the cycle but don't know how to stop it properly and get the door unlocked

your mach depending on model and cycle selected has a 3 to 5min "add a garment" feature.that means in the 1st 3-5mins of cycles when add a garment light is lit you may hit pause button once and the mach will stop and unlock door.after add a gament light is off,if u hit pause the cycle the mach will drain water and reset cycle..hope this helps

Control lock light will not go off.

Do you have any error codes?

Does water remain in the washer after the final spin?
If water remains in the washer after the final spin, then the door will not unlock. Drain/Spin or Spin Only to remove any remaining water from the washer. The door should unlock at the end of the cycle.
Is the door locked and the Add A Garment light on?
If the Add A Garment light is on, then the washer door will unlock after the Pause/Cancel button is pressed once. Pressing the Start button will restart the washer at the same point where it left off in the cycle.
Is the door locked and the Add A Garment light off?
If the Add A Garment light is off, then the washer door will unlock after the Pause/Cancel button is pressed twice. The door will not immediately unlock while the cycle is running due to a possible high-water level in the washer, high-water temperature, tumbling or spinning. It may take up to five minutes for the washer to stop spinning and draining before the door will unlock. You will hear the door click when it unlocks.
If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
  2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, call for service.

WASHER KEEPS STOPPING DURING CYCLE need to pause and restart x's

i would remove hte bottom access panel (3 screws across the lower front) o fmachine. form there you will gain acess to the "button trap" its a clean out for the pump assembly, sounds as if there is a something clogging the drain there fore preventing washer form high speed spin. beaware when the plug is removed there will be a bunch of water behind so be prepared with some towells, ( i use a kitchen plastic bag to collect water and any other gunk that may come through

Washers - Resetting Electronic Controls on a Washer

If there is a pause in the washer cycle, the controls will lock up. The pause can occur because of a power failure or it was put in the test mode at the factory.

Also, if the washer was stopped before the cycle was complete or the consumer has pushed the stop/pause button to temporarily stop the cycle and the cycle is not reset. Over a period of 24 hours, the washer will pump out and spin, but will stay in the final spin.

To correct the situation, shut off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or unplug the washer, then turn the timer knob around and back to any position other than final spin. Verify the water is turned on and restore power. This should resolve the issue.
