Normal 0 Disconnectthe Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded softwareprogram. When the program asks you to connect the camera to theUSB port, do so and it should work. Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to besetup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the cameraon your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Yourfriends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
Hopethis helps. Bud

I have a problem installing my Vimicro USB PC Camera 305 on my Windows XP. I start to install but still doesn't work. I try to uninstall but I cant do that from CONTROL PANEL pls tell me how to do that....

It is a pain.
Try the following. Re-run install, insert CD and it should start to load?

The exception is it should come up and say do you wish to uninstall Blah blah . Click Yes. When finished it will want to restart.

Before restart, remove usb webcam. restart.
Go to my poota/programs/and look for the camera file/ it may have been removed in that no problem/ if file is still there/right click/remove. Restart.
Complete restart/then setup CD Webcam again. Sit with it click Ok when asked even not a recognized prog, still click continue.
After completion. Reinsert usb of webcam! wait till it loads, asking silly Q, continue. till finish.
If sucessful, find it in programs if you didn't click for desktop icon?
Startup screen should show small white screen, couple of Q's it can't do something, ignore. You will end up with blank white/black square.
Click menu at top, click devices, dropdown click your cam name, should then open to a larger screen. If you need to alter things, click options.
All this of course if it loads.

Best of British.

I download it but its totally black as if nothing has been downloaded

Are you able to find the downloaded prog.

If so right click, find setup/auto run prog.

Remove usb before starting. Should prog ask, then reinsert. Otherwise continue to end or setup.
Restart, wait till completely setup, reinstall usb, poota should then plug and play. Found new hardware? Let it auto, click continue when asked.
When finished, click icon either on deshtop or in program menu fron start.
When cam starts you will get a blank small screen, go to menu top screen/click devices, click your cam, this make it default, then use options to refine your requirements.

Im having problems viewing myself in web cam

Warren, First, go to Control Panel->Add or Remove Progs. Uninstall this webcam from there. Second. reboot. Third. Insert the CD that came with the webcam and auto run it. The drivers will be installed. Fourth. Now connect the webcam and allow Windows to detect it and load its drivers. Now you are ready to face the world. You also have to run the prog that you may have installed along woth the drivers. Run that prog and see yourself.

I want to install the Genius webcam but i don't have the installation driver and i don't know exactly the model of the camera. Pls help.

The model of the camera will be found on the device itself - anything that looks like a barcode or series of number - ie. on the tag on mine i see m/n: VX09 Blah Blah Blah - Google search this. It would be easier if you knew the make usually branded across the device and very visible.

Google seach the device name, go to the manufacturers site and download the driver.
