My flash stopped working. I got it last Christmas. I made sure Flash is always enabled, but this didn't help.

Hi,
I just had the same problem with my D70
Just remove the 2 screws from the front of the popup flash
The rear plastic cover will the clip off.

Inside you will find a small switch on the right side of the flash unit when it pops up the switch should make, if it doesn't try shorting it with a small insulated item the try the camera in low light and see if if flashes.

To fix you need to remove the spring-screw from the other side then gently prise the bracket off, then just pull out the small white sleeve on the right hand side of the popup near the switch,
this sleeve moves in slightly and will not make the switch on the popup flash.

Gently put the flash bracket onto the camera, be very gentle as the wires are very thin. You will see the white plastic bearing has 2 small clips which need to be through the hole on the bracket the pin which activates the switch will then be in the correct position.

It's pretty obvious if you have a go.

Good luck and I hope this fixes your flash problem on D70

BTW I also have a F80 but this does not have the same mech on the internal flash unit

1. Check that batteries are fresh.
2. Check that camera hasn't been set for no-flash mode.
3. Give the flash time to charge before pressing shutter.

This particular camera sems to be a bit of a let down. I bought one and the flash stopped working on mine and apparently it is a common fault. Best solution is to buy a completely different make as Jenoptiks dont seem to be much good.

I have had it happen twice.

The first time I had it repaired which cost £80.

Now I am not sure... I may have to get another camera if it costs that much to fix.

If there is a replacement part I'd love to know.

I had this problem and found out that the flash worked fine, but you cannot have it in burst mode.  It has to be single shot and it will work.  I missed so many snaps for birthdays and holidays due to this problem, but now I know.  They should put that in the manual!!

try keeping your hand in front of the lense maybe the camera mode would be automatic so when u click photos in a bright the camera would automatically turn off the flash for conforming try clicking a photo in an extremely dark place i hope your flash will work there

proj_... indicated that his solution for
COOLPIX L4 Digital... Problem
is valid for all Nikon Digital...
You might have BSS or continuous photos turned on. This is Best Shot Selector, which lets you hold down the button to take up to 10 shots. It then selects the least blurred of them and saves it. Obviously since it fixed blurred shots, it is not intended for use with flash.

Also make sure that the lens is facing forward or else the flash is disabled.

Mine flashes when it wants to. Sometimes it does not flash at all. Other times it flashes before or after shutter has clicked making the picture dark. Sometimes after several pictures it will work. Sometimes it flashes very bright and then makes a pop noise. Sometimes it seems to flash twice. Setting the flash mode does nothing. Camera was NOT dropped or abused.

My camera is several months old and has not been used that much, yet the flash has stopped working. I can find nothing about it in the manual. Very frustrating. Any suggestions?

I just got this camera as an early Birthday Present, and the flash was working fine for a while and then it just stopped working. I replaced the batteries and then I check the manual and there is nothing in there. I have been letting it charge before I take pictures but the flash still wont work...

My Digital Pentax *ist DL's flash stopped working. One second it was working the the next nothing. Several camera shops have suggested getting it fixed. What is the chance it is the light bulb? Can I change it myself? What happened. Camera was only a year+ old.

I received a new Bushnell Model 119800 trail camera as a gift. It takes pictures in the daylight but no pictures in the dark. There is no flash and I don't see a way to turn the flash ON/OFF or to replace a "bulb". The instructions barely mention the "Incandescent Flash". Any ideas?

I have a Sony DSC-H2 whose warrenty was up in September I believe, In October the flash quit. I have tried all the settings, fresh batteries everything in book and that I can find on line. Sony wants $180.00 to look at the camera, I think that is very wrong. The red tracking light comes on, but no flash.

Comment by Guest, posted on Dec 25, 2007

how can i turn flash on?

Comment by azhelkov, posted on Dec 21, 2007

Solution #1 worked for me. It's a bit scary to mess with tiny electronics and I was electrocuted couple of times even I removed the battery during repair. It's still a mystery to me how white plastic bearing with two clips for holding it in place got moved so far inside. It is definitely a design flaw. Anyway, so far so good. Thank you tonycross.

Comment by phil_k, posted on Dec 09, 2007

Same as others have reported. No flash in any mode. Flash recharge lite goes thru cycle and comes up green. Everything else in camera seems to work fine. Can the flash be replaced without sending the camera back to the repair shop?

My flash has just completely quit working. I have tried all shutter settings and still nothing. I have had this camera for almost 3 years, is it possible that the flash just needs to be replaced?

Comment by magkeep2, posted on Nov 21, 2007

my flash just stopped working. the only way I can take an indoor picture is to put it on the candlelight mode and sometimes they turn out. HELP,

Comment by moosecreek, posted on Nov 05, 2007

flash doesn't seem to be working, though the charging light is working. It is not set on continuous or BSS. And flash is set to auto/flash.
