Question about Televison & Video

Hi there... When it is raining around our house in Elwood, we get signal outages on our LCD screen. I've checked the connections to the wall and everything is OK. But in the last two weeks we have had outages. We have an external antennae. Could it be the rain? The TV? The antennae?

If you are using a satellite dish, then yes the rain is the problem, especially noticeable with heavy downpours, common problem here in the uk.if you are using a standard tv aerial, its quite possible water is gaining entry to the connections on your aerial.picture breakup is usually associated with poor signal reception.you could try replacing the aerial with a high gain type, cheap as chips to buy,and should create a vast improvement.its not the tv...hope this helps and let me know how it goes.....steve

I recently replaced my Intermatic EJ500 with a new unit, I noticed it works perfectly fine for one day then the batteries that control the timer drain completely the following day, what could it be?

Line voltage usually controls the timer functions when properly wired until a power outage occurs; then battery power takes over until utility power is restored. Should utility power be off for an extended period of time, eventually the battery will drain completely
Double check to make sure you wired your wall switch timer properly.
Make sure there are no loose wiring connections.
Even though you purchased a new replacement timer wall switch, it could be a manufacturer's defect.
Has your home electrical system experienced any signal spikes? Electronic components are very sensitive to impulse spikes/surges and can be damaged very easily.
If you are experiencing surges or spikes, perhaps investing in a whole house surge protection system (Intermatic IG series) would be the way to go as well. It'll protect all your electronic devices and appliances through-out the house.

Try reprograming the remote for your area. Try codes 000-001-004-005-008-009-013-042-051-053-058-105-109-170-174. You should have an owners manual, look under trouble shooting.

When I turn the projector, i hear clicking from my AV receiver, the MITSUBUSHI screen then blue screen shows up on the wall, but then it says no signal: then the projector goes to standby without me doing...

The problem is most likely a warped plastic housing around the color wheel. When the wheel is forced to stop, the projector will go to standby and the lights indicate a problem.

Phone says other handset on or out of range when trying to connect. All three handsets do this.

There can some obstruction in the signal to the devices. There are houses that can block signals through there walls. If it is concrete, than this can be a problem. But even with some regular houses this can be a problem some times. Try checking the space where the phone base is, check around for things in the same frequency. There are a lot of devices that operate on that frequency, so check around and move stuff around. If it still is a problem get another device with higher power and another frequency. A lot of different devices can cause problems, like microwaves.

My w850i phone is not able to receive signals in house?

Hi,

This is because the wall around the room is blocking the signal,so there is a intreption of the signal.Due to this the phone is not picking up the signal properly.

When you go out you can get good signal.

thanx

Hi:
Usually an alignment check and adjustment is $50-60 for 2 wheels, and around $80-100 for a 4 wheel alignment .
the actual alignment could cost more if they find worn or broken parts,

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.
