Question about Audio Cards

I bought a ASUS computer second-hand. The soundcard is not working at all.I have tried Removing in Device Manager & rebootingXP. I have also tried setting the computer back as far as I could. Can you help?

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers or uninstall
click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand,system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
make sure you have an earth ******** before touching any parts inside your computer

Is this the 1st time you used it?
Check if the Soundcard Driver is already installed
Right Click "My Computer or Computer" in Windows taskbar Select Properties Select Device Manager Look for your SoundCard Double Click, check if the device is working properly
If the soundcard driver is already installed, check your speaker connections & your speaker

I have formated my pc now no sound is coming sound card is in the mother board how to install it


if your computer came with a disk/disks your soundcard should be on one of them or
control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager,sound,could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

Soundcard cannot be detected


It needs a driver, install from the Asus software and driver disc, or download it from http://support.asus.com/

I bought a used think pad...someone cleaned out everything and just re-installed the basics. it works great however there is no sound? how do I know if it has a sound card or not?


Hi there, in order for you to chcek if there is sound car installed in your system. Click on control panel then go to system then click device manager then search for sound devices. if theres none and you see unknown device with exclamation point on it (!) that could be your soundcard. all you need to do there is to install the soundcard driver. you can download the driver at www.lenovo.com if its a thinkpad PC. thanks!

No sound


jeraku try to open your device manager...to check if you properly installed your driver for your soundcard. you can open this by goto start menu>settings>control pane>system>hardware>device manager> sound, video and game controllers; if you can see a ? question mark- means driver not properly installed.. try to update again or download your driver for your soundcard.. you can download a list of driver through this link. www.driverguide.com. if your soundcard is onboard, just try to find driver to your board. hope this could help.. thanks... Soundcard in XP


Try manually installing it by using the Add New Hardware wizard. Make sure all other soundcard(s) are deleted from Device Manager first, though. Another thing you can try- Boot into Safe Mode, open Device Manager, remove/delete any and all instances of sound card hardware you find, reboot and see if Windows re-detects.
