Question about Dell P1500 Laser Printer

1 Answer

P1500 clutch assembly

I tried removing the clutch assembly thinking it was the solenoid coil but after applying voltage to it it worked normally. When I test the connector on the board where this gets its power from its only 0.8v dc thrughout the test page cycle, It should be 24vdc or lower but not .8. When I latch the clutch in manually with a screw driver It pulls the paper then jams. I got it to print a test page once while engaging the clutch lockout at different times but I cannot replicate. Just got lucky My question is what tells the clutch to engage or where can I trace the power loss for it. I do nothing with the clutch it never pulls the paper thru since the roller with the clutch will not spin. All the circuit boards have no apparent problems as far as burnt spots or solder joints. I see no paper position sensor where is it? Help Please

If your only getting .8v then you have a bad board, does'nt have to show burnt spots. Change the board.

P0716
Circuit/System Description
The input speed sensor (ISS) is a hall-effect type sensor. The sensor faces the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R clutch housing machined teeth surface. The sensor receives 8.3-9.3 volts on the input/output speed sensor (ISS/OSS) supply voltage circuit from the transmission control module (TCM). As the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R clutch housing rotates, the sensor produces a signal frequency based on the machined surface of the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R clutch housing. This signal is transmitted through the ISS signal circuit to the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly. The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly uses the ISS signal to determine line pressure, transmission shift patterns, torque converter clutch (TCC) slip speed and gear ratio.

Circuit/System Verification
Engine idling, observe the scan tool Transmission ISS parameter while varying the engine speed. The Transmission ISS parameter should change with the engine speed and not drop out.
Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Ignition OFF, remove the control valve body cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement.
Connect the TCM harness connector.
Disconnect the input speed sensor (ISS) from the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly.
Connect the J 38522 between the supply voltage terminal B and ISS signal terminal A at the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Input Shaft Speed/Output Shaft Speed Input Test for further instructions.
Set the J 38522 signal to 8 volts, the frequency to 120 and the percent duty cycle to 50.
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Transmission ISS parameter. The scan tool Transmission ISS parameter should be between 100-400 RPM.
? If not within the specified range, replace the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly.
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the input speed sensor.

Control Valve Body Cover Replacement

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
Remove the oil cooler inlet hose (1) from the retainer on the control valve body cover.
Remove the oil cooler outlet hose retainer nut (5) from the control valve body cover.
Remove the oil cooler outlet hose (4) from the retainer on the control valve body cover.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.
Drain the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Replacement.

?Had a new starter and new battery put on my 1999 Chevy Tahoe.. we by it starts sometimes and sometime it don't..what could the problem be

I'm assuming just by the fact you had a new battery and new starter that sometimes when you turn the key to the start position , nothing happens . Is your vehicle a automatic transmission ? When it doesn't start have checked for battery voltage at the starter solenoid S terminal ? Is there B+ voltage at pins 30 & 86 for the starter relay ? Pin 86 while cranking the engine or trying to crank the engine over . Pin 30 check with key on . Try moving gear selector to neutral . Videos on youtube for basic automotive electrical testing . How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit Find a wiring diagram at www.bbbind.com
Starting System Circuit Description
Voltage is applied at all times to the ignition switch from the IGN A fuse 6 through CKT 242 (RED). When the ignition switch is turned to the START position, voltage is applied to the CRANK fuse 8 through CKT 5 (YEL). From the CRANK fuse 8, voltage is either applied to the clutch pedal position switch (M/T) or the transmission range switch (A/T) through CKT 806 (PPL). When either the clutch is disengaged (M/T) or the transmission is in park or neutral (A/T), voltage is applied to the coil of the starter relay through CKT 1035 (PPL/WHT). Since the starter relay is permanently grounded at ground G105 through CKT 150 (BLK), the starter relay energizes.
Voltage is applied at all times to the starter relay contacts from IGN A fuse 6 through CKT 242 (RED). When the starter relay energizes, the starter relay contacts close, and voltage is applied to the starter motor solenoid. Since the starter motor solenoid is permanently case grounded, the starter motor solenoid will energize two coils. The pull-in winding coil energizes in order to pull the starter motor solenoid contacts closed. When the contacts close, a plunger on the contacts causes the pull-in winding coil circuit to open. The hold-in winding coil then holds the starter motor solenoid contacts closed. Voltage is then applied to the starter motor from the battery through CKT 1 (BLK) and the closed contacts of the starter motor solenoid. Since the starter motor is also permanently case grounded, the starter motor will run until the ignition switch is moved out of the START position. When this happens, a spring in the starter motor solenoid moves the starter motor solenoid contacts and the plunger back to the rest position.

Where is the neutral safety switch located on the transmission and is there another switch that would keep the starter from engaging?

If it is an automatic it is part of the Range sensor switch on the transmission where the cable hooks up from the linkage.

1999 GMC Sonoma 2.2L will not start.

What is wrong????????? That would be a guess on anyones part here ! Testing the electrical circuits involved would be the proper way to diagnose this no start problem ! Using a volt meter an wiring diagram to check voltage at different point's in the starter circuit . voltage drop testing ! Plus knowing how the starter system works !
Starter Circuit Operation
