I've had a couple of Fujis using this media exhibiting the same problem. I traced it to either A. dirty contacts on the memory card,B. dirty contacts in the memory card holder or the worst of the lot C. badly bent or fractured fingers in the memory card holder.
For A, a light rubbing with a pencil eraser will clean the contacts on the card.
For B. cut out a piece of ordinary printer paper the same width but slightly longer than the memory card And push the card in and out a number of times with the paper against the fingers and covering the card's contacts. That should clean the fingers inside.
For C. Remove the motherboard which has the card holder connected to it and replace the whole thing. If you find this too expensive or too much hassle use answer B but leave the paper in the holder with the memory except put the paper on the opposite side to the contacts. This is usually enough to get you out of trouble in an emergency. I know, it's saved a few tears with my 700.
The photo is a motherboard from the Oly C700 and the black box on the left is the card holder.

1. Make sure media is inserted correctly (this isn't always obvious with SmartMedia, for instance). Make sure media hasn't been write-protected.
