Question about Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver
Got my second Onkyo, returned the first unit because HDMI output didn't work with my Panasonic BD35 blue ray and my Hitachi rear projection. My Hitachi only is capable of 1080i and has DVI input. Onkyo manual say okay with DVI. When runing blue ray player video is out of sync or something. I tried to force output of Panasonic to 720p and set Onkyo to 720p but no success. When I check the Onkyo setting it reverts back to auto or through, same with my blue ray player. I guess HDMI signal senses monitor and adjusts settings but you would think I could fix these settings. Returned first unit thinking there was an issue, second unit performs the same. Check with cable box using HDMI into same input, no problems, so it appears there is some capabilty issue with my blue ray or monitor, not sure. Had Denon AV788 and it worked fine, just didn't like that Denon could not display setting menu in HDMI, you had to hook up the composite video to do this so I bought Onkyo on the great reviews.
I hate to return this a second time, there must be a way to get around the menu to get this correct I hope. HELP.
HDMI switching is an ongoing problem for the 606. A number of people are having the same problem. Mine is at the local repair shop and Onkyo has told them the part is on backorder until April. I would look at another brand or upgrade to a higher leval Onkyo.
