You want to print to the hold queue instead of print. In windows you can go into your printers and faxes control panel, right click on your printer and select properties, select ports tab, press configure, set for LPR mode, set LPR queue to "hold". (no quotes)

You may also be able to change queue in the print driver.

Consider also verifying that you have the newest version of your drivers for this unit.

Consider getting a 5185i-H1 v2.0 they rock

Ensure that all your network settings on the printer are correct, especially the DNS settings. Are you able to ping the printer from a workstation? Maybe you have a bad cable connecting the printer.

Hi, details below for creating a ersistent connection from LPT1: to you \\computer\\printername printer. Do the following on the other workstation that is not printing.

Use the net.exe command to establish a persistent connection.

To do this, use the following syntax at a command prompt:

net use lpt1 \\printserver\sharename /persistent:yes

where printserver is the print server that is sharing the printer, and where sharename is the name of the printer share.

For example, to map LPT1 to a printer shared as Laser1 on a print server that is named Pserver, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. Type net use lpt1 \\pserver\laser1 /persistent:yes, and then press ENTER.
4. To quit the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.

Note In Windows XP, non-administrative users cannot map an LPT port to a network printer path when the LPT port exists on the computer as a physical parallel port.

What does kyocera command workstation do

I beleive you are refering to the Cammand Center which is a web interface to your printer and it's network interface. You put in the IP address of the printer into your web browser and you can make changes to the printer.

Network printing (network port)

The copier and the workstation should have IP addresses from the same LAN class.

Open any internet browser and try to see the printer's webpage - Command Center by typing the printer's IP address.
If you see it = OK if no then something is wrong with the network ...

If you are using a router/hub check if you have a green light for the printer port at the router/hub and at the printer - ussualy a green light indicate OK

If the cables and the rest of the network hardware is OK do a ping from your computer to the printer.
In windows XP: Start->Run-> type cmd
then: ping xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
whre xxx = printer IP address
you should see a replay if everything is OK

A very simple check is to bypass the whole network infrastructure (which may be at fault) by connecting the PC or a laptop direct to the printer using a cross-over network cable. Give a static IP to the printer and a static IP to the computer. from the computer you shoould see the printer webpage (open any internet browser and typ the printer's IP Address)

Sometimes for security reasons routers have ON some filters - check any firewals about MAC / IP filters or ports. To print using the network printer you need to let open port 9100.
