My proform 830 qt circuit keeps flipping

My proform 830 qt treadmill circuit keeps flipping off--the little switch next to the cut-off switch near where the power cord enters the machine. At first it would run about an hour, then flip and shut the machine off. Now this happens after 20 minutes or so. I checked to see if the belt is running freely, there seems to be nothing obstructing its free movement. I cleaned the motor's armatures, there was some carbon build-up but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm hoping the motor is not going out since that is around $170, it seems to run fine without overheating. We've had it about 8 years but it has only been used about 1 year (stored for many years). Thanks, Mike

I have had the same problem with my 830 qt. Ordered a new circuit breaker and had the same problem after a short while. Finally decided to jumper the circuit breaker with a piece of wire a couple of years ago and now the motor and the speed control choke are over heating and kicking out. I have no idea what's causing it or how to fix it aside from buying new parts. Bought mine new in November of 1999. I think I will loosen the belt a bit and see if that helps.

We bought our Proform 830 QT several years ago from Sears. We used while I was in the military but then moved, and put it in storage in our attic. Recently, my wife and I moved it to a new sunroom and started using it again on a regular basis.

Yesterday, my wife was using it and it tripped it's internal circuit breaker 3 times. I have removed the cover over the 'guts' of the machine, inspected the motor, belts, and wiring. I cannot see any problem w/ it expect dust. I used WD 40 to lub the rod where the front of the deck belt rotates and restarted it. So far, so good but I am also looking for a user's guide (original was lost) to see what the manufactur recommends for maintenance.

my Pro form 8300 QT, treadmill is at least 7 years old. It is not constantly in use mostly in winter months only.

This past winter  '08 as I'm in my manual routine  it just shuts off, tossing me off the treadmill.  VERY, VERY dangerous and I don't trust it to use it.

I've tested this treadmill 4 times with the same issues occurring.
I had the unit on a surge protector/battery-backup.  I checked that unit out and there a no problems with it.  I plugged the treadmill in directly to the wall outlet and the same thing happened after about 10 minutes of use.  I turned the switch at the base off and on checking it out.  Each time my speed was only up to 3.2, when it stops.

I thought it might be over heating or something. . . What is going on. Please help.

I purchased it from Sears which is a joke to find someone to answer the phone for trouble shooting at the local store where it was purchased.  Other than the shutting off, it's been a nice piece of equipment.

This just started happening today. I was up to 4.6 and it popped. I was able to reset after several minutes. It popped again at 4.7 several minutes later. Thinking it might be overtaxed by the combination of the speed and my 240+ lbs, I reduced the speed (it will take longer to reduce the weight, especially if this things gives up the ghost!) and it popped once more at 4.2. Anybody have a manual with maintenance tips that might help? Thanks.

I've been having this problem too and it seems the best solutions i've came up with have been to buy a lube kit for the treadmill from the proform website or replace the circuit breaker.

I have a proform 300 treadmill. we moved into a new home and it just stopped working. it was perfectly working before the move. now, nothing comes on, no power, nothing.

Dear Sir:

I will help you.
1. NoPower
o 1 Make sure that the surge protector being used isproperly grounded and turned on. Check that the treadmill power cord isproperly plugged into the surge protector. o 2 Check to see that the key is inserted in theconsole. o 3 Check the circuit breaker on the frame near thepower cord. If the reset/off circuit breaker has tripped, wait 5 minutes andthen reset the breaker by pressing the switch in.
2) Circuit Breaker:

Please check the circuit breaker from the main panel, and reset, or put some Lamp for to see if turn on. if do it. the problem could be the wires and the plug, Test it with A VOM(Voltimeter) for a continuity.

Thank you in advance, sincerely.

The deck needs to be lubricated. The lubricant can be purchase @ LUBRICATION PROCEDURE: 1. Turn off and unplug treadmill. 2. Cut off the end of the tube of lubricant. 3. Holding the tube in one hand, insert the tube underneath the treadbelt halfway between front and back and halfway between right and left. 4. I have a proform j8 treadmill when you run on it for a half mile to a mile it kicks off then you have to wait awhile flip the breaker next to the on off switch. and it happens again

Check out The very best free information and help you can get to fix your treadmill yourself. I would say off hand the belt needs lubed (at least once a year) with special lube. Do not use ordinary household lubricants. Or the breaker switch is bad. About $8 to 15$. It's tripping for a reason, clean and lube and then go from there.

Pro-Form 360P, when I step on the belt, it stops moving.

when the belt is stopped you should be check the deck if this it´s worm or the walking belt, because a probable cause is lack of lubrication, In addition should send the engine to revision, because according to what your gross probably already there are some Diode Rectifier damaged, You must know that the cause that generates this problem stems from the walking belt and the table or deck

Treadmill stops running

I had simillar problem. I have proform 830 QT. My trademill stops after 10 minutes of work out. Everything shuts down and the circuit breaker pops out.

Root cause:- no lubrication under walking belt. Caused the moter to over work (over heat) and hence te circuit breaker popped out to prevent blowing of motor.

Solution:- Apply the lubricant under walking belt and adjust the belt tension if needed.

Back ground:- Contact proform customer service at 1-888-533-1333 ( and buy the treadmil cleaning kit or lubricant kit which comes with a wand for easy application. It may cost you 35 dollars including shipping. If you need to fix your treadmil right away, use NAPA silicon spray 8300. Proform actually tells do not use it as it may damage your belt. However the specialst who came to fix my treadmill just sprayed it and collected 100 dollars. When I called proform they told me lubricating will fix it and its my mistake to not trust them. I guess they knew exactly what they were saying.
