Question about Belkin (F5D9230-4) Wireless Router (F5D92304)
Hi there, I recently purchased a Belkins wireless router product number F5D9230-4 to make my AOL broadband connection go wireless. It worked for awhile, but having had the wired computer which connects the router to the AOL cable modem crash...i lost all the information running the two connections. Now when I try start up the internet either from the wired or wireless connection they dont work(this is when their connected together)the internet works perfectly when its just the AOL cable modem connected..but this also means i cannot use the internet on the second computer. When I try to set up the router to work with the AOL cable modem the Wireless connection, Computer connected, power on and WAN connection are all working properly, the most important connection which is the internet connection however isn't.It seems that when i restart the router the power connection is working, the computer connection is working the WAN connection is working too and the internet connections works breiefly, then it will refresh, the internet connection light will switch off and the wireless connection will switch on. I cannot connect even when the internet connection light is on for the 5 seconds it is. I have tried configuring all router settings, talking to AOL and Belkins live help representatives who may i add suck at their own jobs(some are OK however) whatever they said i had tried, i tried reinstalling both AOL and router settings for connections and also restarting both the AOL modem and Belkins router so many times that I've wasted days on this problem. I'd appreciate any help and if needed will give more info, please bare in mind that i may not answer promptly due to having the internet be unreliable :(
You need to start from beginning. Clear all temp internet files and run this programme Start>Run ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. Get into the routers settings(probably 192.168.2.1) and ensure in the Lan settings that 'DHCP Server' is on and wireless is enabled.(you might need to be connected by RJ45 lan cable first) If it's a 125mbps router change settings to 54mbps to try that speed first(especially as your wireless cards will be 54 mbps) look in Mac address Filtering is off. Look in the DHCP Client list and see if your pc's were allocated ip addresses, if so it should allow an internet connection. Go to both your pc's wireless cards properties and under TCP/IP properties ensure obtain ip address automatically is checked. Restart both pc's and the router, disconnect cable and try wirelessly

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.
