Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS25 Built-in Dishwasher

Dishwsher is getting no water?

I have a KitchenAid dishwasher model number KUDIO1ILWH6. It retails for @ $600.00 and Lowes has a unit that is very similar. I believe the dishwasher I have is from 2005 or 2006? I don't know a lot about it because I bought it used and was told that it worked. I got it all hooked up and it ran all through the cycles without using any water? I fooled with the button sequence some but nothing. I decided to try the water solinoid valve, so I bought and installed one of those. Still nothing. I checked online for information and saw somewhere that some dishwashers need some water in the motor housing in order to work. It was completley empty when I installed it so I put water in it, ran it some, pushed cancell to drain the water and then started over again and it worked! Well.......the next I would say two times. Now it hasn't worked again since then. I also tried replacing the float switch, but that didn't work either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Someone took the repair manual from the inside of the lower panel so I'm really begining to wonder if there was a problem before.

I didn't try what you said but I took my tester and checked the voltage going to the water valve when the dishwasher was on. It got spikes of electric but it was so fast it never even got up very far on the meter. My guess is the valve isn't getting a full signal? So what's the problem? I loooked at the drawings and the only thing I can figure is the control pannel? I also took the top pannel apart some and checked the two switches on the latch and they both work. I made sure the tab is bent down as far as it will go to activate them when the door is closed.

Where's the timer? I don't remember seeing that? I need to get a schematic. Where can I get one?

Thanks a lot for your time. It turned out to be something totally different! Even though I checked water coming in at the water solenoid I guess it was only a small build up? It turned out I had a shut off valve that the rubber seal came off and got lodged in the opening blocking the water! I discovered it only after I took the dishwasher out I was trying to install and put my old one back in and then that one wasn't getting any water either. I couldn't believe it when I took it apart. The water started running out when I turned the main off and the pressure dropped but when the pressure was holding it in place it sealed it right up!

Can you make a test cord out of a short extension cord . cut the cord on the female end and crimp on two alligator clips . now with the dishwasher disconnected from the power grid put the alligator clips on the water valve .check that the alligator clips are not touching nothing but the valve terminals. Now plug up the male end into a wall outlet ,you should have water if not you will know what to test.

sounds like the timer . trace the schematic and use the ohm scale to test the contacts in the timer the ohms should be 0 or close to 0 . Use the wire colors to help you trace

Water Inlet Valve

The dishwasher has an electrical water valve called a water inlet valve. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, the water inlet valve might be defective. These valves are not repairable and will have to be replaced.

Float

The float assembly is normally inside the dishwasher near the door on the floor of the dishwasher. If something gets stuck underneath it and holds the float assembly up, the dishwasher won't fill with water. If the float assembly moves freely up and down, the float switch might be defective.

Float Switch

The float switch is actuated by the float assembly. It is a protection device designed to prevent the dishwasher from overfilling. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, it may be because this float switch is defective or stuck.

Water Supply Problem

The dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply from the house. Check to be sure the household water supply valve is turned on. Over time, calcium deposits can build up in the water supply valve or in the small filter screen inside the water inlet valve. The water supply line may need to be removed from the water inlet valve of the dishwasher, then run some water into a bucket to see if there is enough pressure. Be certain to turn off the water before working on the water line.

I need to fit a new drain hose to my Bosch Dishwsher Model No. SGS546A72/42 . Is this easy to do and can I obtain a diagram to assist.

not all models use the same size drain hose. you need to know what size the out put of the unit (could be found in the user manual or measure the outside diameter of the outlet on the unit.) also you need to know what is the size of the connection to the drain on the pipe under the sink or where ever it is located. it is also best if you know the length that you will need don't go short a little extra can usually be better than to short. with all of the above written down on paper go to the hardware store (I like Lowes) and have the store person show you what he has for your dishwasher. I like to put clamps on the hoses as it keeps them inplace and will eliminate future leaks.

The unit fills and pumps out OK. However, the wash arm does not shoot water or rotate. The unit model is listed as KUDSo1FLSS2 and the serial number is FP4117644.

IT NEEDS TO BE CLEAN THE ROTATION IS CAUSED BY THE WATER PRESSURE. THAT STOPS WHEN ITS CLOGGED WITH BUILDUP... YOU CAN GET A MANUAL THAT HAS THE INSTRUCTIONS AT TVPARTSANDMANUALS.COM

Last nigh my Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7100Aww serial # 15666931YM caught fire. Luckily I heard it and was able to put the fire out before my house caught fire. Has there been a recall on this model...

Hi,

Yes, there was a product recall for your Dishwasher due to fire hazard. Please visit the following pages for further information:

https://repair.maytag.com/repair/dishwasher.jsp?siteCd=MT_EN_US

https://repair.maytag.com/repair/dish_faq.jsp?siteCd=MT_EN_US

The list includes model numbers beginning MDB7 with serial numbers ending in YM, so yours is one of the units affected.

With regard to repair / replacement / compensation, Maytag state the following:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these dishwashers, disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it and inform all users of the dishwasher about the risk of fire. Contact Maytag for either a free in-home repair, or a $75 cash back reimbursement following the purchase of a new Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Whirlpool® or KitchenAid® dishwasher. Consumers should not return the dishwasher to the retailer where it was purchased, as retailers are not prepared to take units back.
Consumer Contact: For more information, contact Maytag Corporation at (800) 675-0535 anytime, or visit the firm's Web site at www.repair.maytag.com.

Hope this helps - I would advise phoning them on the number above to find out what your exact position is as this recall was issued in 2007. However, there should not be any time limitations on claims and this still appears to be an active recall. They have admitted the dishwashers are dangerous and thereby accepted liability.

Regards,
BElectric
