I had a screw fall into my paper feed area before and didn't discover it till I tilted the printer on it's side. Could be a small foreign object in there somewhere. Tip it over and listen for loose stuff.

Paper is not being fed from paper holding drawer. sometimes makes clicking sound. Copier does work when single piece of paper is fed through right hand side of machine

It sounds like the feed tire is dirty, OR the feed clutch has sprung. Remove the paper tray On the right side of the copier where you feed the single sheet, you pull down the door. This exposes a fat gray or black feed roller. Take a clean dry towel and dampen it with wd 40. Gently wipe the roller with the cloth turning the roller toward the paper exit direction. Let the WD 40 soak in for ten minutes, replace the paper tray and try to make a copy. If it does, you need a feed roller which will rquire a service cal/take it in. If still no feed the 'clicking' may be a sprung clutch, service call required.

If this helps, please let me know with a vote, thanx

When I click on PRINT, the paper feeds through without printing and there is a PAPER JAM message. There have also been feed problems in that the paper goes through crooked, although it was fed in straight....

The transport rollers are a slightly roughened rubber that gets less 'sticky' with age and the rollers become fouled with paper fibers that insulate the rubber from the driven sheet. Cleaning the rollers (on most, some disassembly required) may cure both problems but if you have ever done labels with the machine, you may have some residue of small piece of one in the wrong place.
Many of our (nearly disposable) printers are put together with molded snaps that must be pried upon to free them so it may be a daunting task for someone inexperienced.

My roller dont take in the paper

MP160 PIXMA paper feed jam E3 error. I completely solved this on my Canon MP160 printer but it is a common problem and the fix may work for others such as MP130 MP140 MP145 MP150 MP170 or MP180. With the problem I had, the printer would make the usual motor whirring noises but would not feed the paper. The usual c-clunk sound that indicated the feed roller has been engaged was not there. The screen warning said to remove jammed paper and the printer showed an E3 error. The problem was caused by the ink cartridge carrier becoming stcky on its track and not fully returning to the rest position on the right side (as viewed from the front). The fix involved taking the printer apart and lubricating the cartridge carrier track and the ramps that lift the cradle that rises to cover the printheads. Unfortunately you have to dismantle the printer and separate the scanner unit to get to the lubrication points. Its not a quick fix. When you have the printer apart you will see a prominent white lever held by a coiled spring just behind the rest position of the ink cartridge carrier. The lever is actuated by the ink cartridge carrier when it moves to the right. If the lever is not actuated, the motor drive will never engage the large grey feed roller and the paper in the hopper cannot be fed into the printer. Make sure to also put some lube onto the lever at the point where it is struck by the ink cartridge carrier.

Canon MP160 feeds only on left, probably dust, can i fix it myself?

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose...

If this fails then there hardware problem and its rollers failure in printer .....

Good luck...

On a Canon MP 460 printer, the paper will not feed in straight causing constant paper jams.

If the paper feed roller is dirty, paper is not fed properly because the paper feed roller slips. Cleaning the paper feed roller could resolve the paper feeding problem. Please follow the instructions below to clean the Paper Feed Rollers directly from the unit.Caution: Since the cleaning process wears down the paper feed roller, perform this procedure only when necessary and no more than three (3) times.
  1. Ensure that the printer is powered on and remove any paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF).

  2. Press the <Menu> button.

  5. Perform the paper feed roller cleaning three times.
    1. Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.

    2. When prompted to start roller cleaning, use the up / down cursor button to select [Yes], then press <OK>. (The paper feed roller cleaning starts.)

  6. Check if the paper feed roller cleaning procedure resolved the issue.
    1. Load a sheet of letter-sized plain paper in the ASF and open the paper output tray.
    2. Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.

Error on my MP160 Printer

check to see if the feed roller is sloppy, the locating lug can break on them, roller is around $30
otherwise you may have a foreign object lodged under the platen inside your printer, they are often impossible to see and difficult to get out, if you take a close look at the leading erdge of the paper that was fed halfway through and look for a dimple as if it hit something and couldn't go any further
try feeding a thick sheet of card backward through paper path taking care not to bend/break paper sensor (black lever) or you could turn printer upside down and gently shake

Automatic Paper feed

Check the feeder roller inside the printer for any foreign substance stuck to the roller, this may cause it not to grip properly. You can also try a few sheets at a time and make sure the paper tray is gripping the paper, but not too hard. If this fails, the roller may be out of place somewhat, try to reposition it. Let me know how you get on.
