Power goes to the unit and works while plugged in, but there's no power flow to charge the battery...I tested the little prongs and I get no response on my meter. I even disassembled it and tested the board itself...there doesn't seem to be any voltage going to the battery prongs.
I even have the part number....if that helps at all.
Sticker on the circuit board: 030703 or 9030LM Another small sticker on it reads: D30U 78A M1118
I'm handy with a soldering gun...but this is a pretty small board. Can I just replace this part?

"JVC notes that you are also given a malfunction code when the unit is placed into safeguard. If it displays code 01, 02, or 06 you should remove the battery and powersupply and wait for a while. Code 03 and 04 indicate that you should eject and reinsert the tape.
In neither of these solutions work, your only alternative is to bring it to a shop or send it to JVC for diagnosis or repair. Unfortunately, there is no other way to clear the condition."
