I re-connected the wires
Unplug the power supply from the wall for a least 2 minutes and plug in again as suggested elsewhere on this forum. It worked for me... I do remember a power surge a few days back, and that probably caused it to protect its self. I'll be plugging into a ups from here on...

Believe it or not there is a battery in the WII console; the battery might just need to be changed. As we had the same problem and this was what we found that changing the battery worked.
