Ok i recently purchased a HDMI cable for my PS3 obviously so i can get the high def picture out of my games and blu ray dvds. after attaching the cable it went through the whole finding optimal setting which was 1080p so i think that all went right but when i play games it works alright for the most part, it gets a little glitchy now and then but when i put a blu ray in it glitches up and flickers to the point that it is unbearable to watch.... i was told that i should not buy a calibration disc because there are other ways around this issue, unfortunately no one has been able to point me in the right direction. can someone please help me solve this issue, thank you

I have not personally experienced this problem but reading up on the problem looks like changing the blu ray at 24hz setting (if on turn off and vice versa) resolves the issue. Other than than double check to ensure you are not set up for component in the settings, if that fails may want to replace your HDMI cable as it is not carrying the sound signal as it should.
sometimes ps has this problem as i m also havin a ps2 n ps3 n i play them on my standard definition tv ....i also hav to restart again n again till 10 to 12 times then finally it starts this may be a plate problem go show it to ur nearest service center.......hope it works
Did you ever figure out how to fix this. We simply took our system and hooked it up to a different tv and it stopped. I personally think the problem is with the HDMI cable and wether the cable and the socket are connecting.
1-HDMI is available in several versions. The PLAYSTATION 3 is
compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full
advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type
A" and "Type B" connectors. The PLAYSTATION 3 uses the 19-pin Type A
connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p. The HDMI cable
is not included with the PLAYSTATION 3. If you are using an HDMI to DVI
converter, you may wish to remove this adaptor.
2- The resolution output (i.e., picture quality) of the PLAYSTATION 3 will depend on three factors: The type of cable used and the inputs available on the TV or display monitor. The
maximum resolution the TV or display monitor can support. The
PLAYSTATION 3 can output two types of resolution: HD and SD. Refer to
the TV or display monitor's owner's manual to check which video modes
are supported. The maximum resolution programmed into the source
material (movie or game). Refer to the software packaging for
information on maximum resolution details or contact the publisher
3- Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable
instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation.
This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular
HMDI setup and/or equipment.
4- Disconnect any coaxial cables
at the point closest to the television. Signals sent through coaxial
cables may cause interference with the sound and picture outputted from
the PLAYSTATION 3 which results in buzzing and humming noises from your
display and speakers.
Well your PS3 Can't connect with your TV to the Samsung, because PS3 Was made HD Blu-Ray. If your TV/Samsung is not supported by High Def. or Blu-Ray, it will not work, you will need a different HDMI Cable, and it should work fine.
Hope this Helped.
Maybe your TV is not made for HD from the Sony Console. Try calling Sony Customer support, then your TV's brand Customer support. That will tell you if your TV Model allows the HD from the PS3. Remember though, PS3 Uses Blu-Ray. So you need Blu-Ray for your TV. Hope this helped.
Could be an overheating issue.. Is there enough air circulation around the unit? Is it possibly dusty? try and perform minor servicing (use a can of compressed air incase if there's dust causing problems)
